I can name 3 players who were much quicker than Donald from SA itself. Hayward Morkel Schultz Now nortje Then there is merchant de lange All were quicker. Merchant de lange is a t20 mercenary who barely bowls over 90 mph in t 20s ffs.
Forward Defence Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Kumara isnt bowling slow. Its just that shorter deliveries register lower speeds. This is a measurement anomaly that technicians must look into. Mosher 1

Suhaan Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Only Akhter,Lee and Tait looked genuinely express till date Mark Wood comes very close,i would like to see him deliver few above 156,157 Above three names did it quite a few times raki05 and Mosher 2

Once you go free-lancer and play in so many leagues you have to manage your fitness and availably hence they cut down on the pace as missing 1 season takes a big hit on the pay-cheques and the medical bills and hospitalization fees have to barred by players themselves.

He was a massive unit but not the one for pace. Morkel had height and a bit of pace but he never crossed 145 consistently. You are just naming names without having watched how the truly great players rank/rate/played them. Morkel was a fair bit faster than Donald. I have watched them all play. Hayward nortje morkel are all quicker. Schultz is quicker. Much quicker infact. De Lange was express at one point. Injuries stuffed him up.

Modern era has far more accurate speed guns. I dont trust any speed gun rating prior to 2010 era. Especially pak speedometers, Aussies tend to over exaggerate speeds too. tapandrun and AuxiliA 2
speedracer Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Akthar the stone thrower mostly looked rauf pace. In modern era he would be a rauf level pace bowler in terms of pace. He was good cause he had skills. Tenda used to say shoaib was never threatening. Neither was Waqar. In terms of sheer pace, Lee barely looked quicker than peak starc. I don't see any difference. Starc between 2012-2015 bowled 145-155 etc. Questionable peak speeds for Lee akthar etc.

There have been changes on how they record and publish speeds over the overs. Mark wood has only bowled over 150s consistently this season, perviously he use to bowl may be 2 balls in a match and may not touch 150s in few matches. If the speed guns are to be trusted Lee, Akthar and Tait were bowling 155 for fun. Only balls over 157-158 looked like effort balls. Have seen Tait bowling his first ball of the first over in acess of 150s. Edited January 12, 2023 by tapandrun

Nope. He said saqlain was more dangerous. Coward akthar ran away from tenda. Remember how he cried to Waqar. Akthar is all talk. Tendulkar had more problems with freaking cronje than akthar.

He may have slowed down now as his career was marred by injuries, but he was a genuine quick when he arrived at the scene.

Umar gul was quick only for a brief period of time in T20's (around 2009-2011) when he was at his peak. Ryan was also never a 150 kph bowler, in 138-145 range mostly...NCN was also in same range more of less. Edited January 12, 2023 by singhvivek141 Mosher, rollingstoned, express bowling and 1 other 4

Suhaan Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Lee could hit 150 even in later years in BBL singhvivek141, express bowling, tapandrun and 1 other 4
Moochad Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 Looks like Kuldeep would be first choice spinner on merit. Im worried that he will play only matches prior to the WC but selectors and Rohit will choose Ashwin when the WC arrives

Agree that speed guns were inaccurate, specially in 2003 WC everyone was hitting 150's for fun. Bond hit multiple 153-154 kph deliveries non-chalantely, while mostly he belong to same pace range as Dale Steyn i.e. 135-145 with effort ball at around 148-149. However, there is no doubt that Shoaib, Lee and Tait were 155+, 160 is bit too much given how much effort it takes for Wood to bowl at 157k raki05 1
