Hopefully Steyn sorts this out and gives accurate info to Umran.  Umran I guess knows little about fast bowling or his body as he was very raw.  IPL couldn't come sooner for Umran.

To my understanding these guys want Umran to bowl around 145-146kph consistently on a channel..  With a occasional 150.

This is dangerous as well almost wasting his natural ability.

BCCI is one Incompetent organization who can't bring a specialist for this role.

His field sets indicate TM has no clue about how to use him hence they are benching him.

Overall Umran is getting wasted in Indian team without proper guidance.

We should just let umran play in other leagues around the world or even better, loan him out our neighbouring countries. Loan with option to buy back Lel. Only then we may learn. Perhaps he will run through us in an international game.

We have already seen this in IPls, where Umran was hitting Ind star batters on their helmets, They were getting beaten for pace.

Line and Length is required for every bowler and not just Umran..but line and length at express pace is very dangerous..it will frustrate even good batsmen as he wont get release shots easily..

I dont think Shami suggested to cut down on pace..he might have suggested to keep working on line and length at his pace..when he said..bahut jaan hai ..and duniya mei raaj krenge..if he gets his line and length right..at that pace..

as far as preferring Mohsin..I think Shami knows Mohsin from UP side..and probably wants to have a good future for him..infact he was saying he can make Mohsin best AR..iirc..

lol I dont know how Shami can improve his batting..but thtas what he said..

no he didnt pick Mohsin over Umran, though a fit Mohsin indeed ticks more boxes than Umran for ODIs. Its not like he's a trundler, he toucher 150 IIRC in IPL too.

Mohsin has barely plyed one season and there is no guarantee he will replicate his first season performance nor he's ticking more boxes yet as we need to see him atleast one more time

Don't understand the fetish with him, most of people here didn't even have a clue about his existence

Let him play one more time and then place him over Umran,Umran is way ahead of any rookie

Mohsin looks another version of Vasvert Drakes or Mirando (hope im proved wrong this season),never hyped him ,will reserve my opinion  untill this season

I liked Mohsin for getting good bounce..and he was getting wkts with good economy in IPL..it was said..he has batting ability..he is good prospect in my books..based on 1st season.

lets see Pros and Cons:

Pros:

1-good bounce with pace from slight short of good length which was troubling batters

2-left arm option

3-known to have some batting

4-bowled with good economy and picked wkts upfront..and later too…showed good control

however below are my concerns:

Cons:

1-1st season was good but he was just a new bowler..teams would hv now tried to figure him out for 2nd season

2-lack of inswing being a left armer..as of now

3-left arm surgery including shoulder..due to clogged arteries..it was also because he couldnt handle the ipl workload..this is a concern as far as fitness goes..

4-coming after long gap..rehab..

As,you rightly said we need to see if he can replicate 1st season performance..if his left arm/shoulder stays powerful to generate similar bounce..

Lets wait and watch before giving any final verdict on him..as of now he is just a good prospect only..

Unran having gained internstional exposure is better choice than him as of now..

However, I hope he comes back strong..will be good for team India..

20 year old Bret Lee in Debut series   . Look at the pace , control , skill sets at that age . Insane . -scary bouncers , reverse swing , in duckers , slower ones , snorter at great pace. A complete exhibition of great execution .

Lee was 23, not 20.

This line and leght shyt spoilt a lot of bowlers. Munaf Patel, had he been kicked on his arse, told to go flat out and not be a lazy bum, he would have achieved much. We spoilt the career of a street smart, extremely well spoken, educated and knowledgeable bowler like Varun Aaron. I say, how much does it matter when your spinners and your military medium retards keep leaking runs from the other side?

Why not tell spinners to not spin the ball, to stick to line and lenght? Bowlers like Varun Aaron, a young Umesh Yadav, Umran Malik are meant to terrorize the batsmen. To run havoc in the minds of the next batsman sitting in the waiting room, shytting in the pants at the prospect of facing such pace. The other bowlers are there to reap the rewards and take wickets. And batsmen are meant to score runs.

Its simple.

Stuart Broad had confessed that he got many a sleepness nights, got nightmares about Varun Aarons delivery that hit him badly. Thats whats needed. The management could have told Aaron to just concentrate on scaring the batsmen.

Bahot hui military medium ki bharmaar, abki baar pace ho damdaar!

Shardul has been the weak link in this NZ series so far. Shami has his off days but has great upside when in rhythm. Thakur's low release, low speeds, poor fitness etc. is not sustainable.

How do you even get out of shape?? Pro athlete ffs. Too much momey and fame.

Simple logic. I am certain few of us from icf can pick a better team than anything bcci can conjure up.

Umran already has a massive impact..  Shakib was terrorizing our batters with spin in ODIs..  Until Umran injured him & he was forced to play as a batter in Test series & bowled only for a while in Dhaka Test.

I think he started bowling within himself after SL T20s after probably being forced to bowl on line length.

Even if Shardul was Tall one could discount his pace..  He is a short Trundler & looks like a Telly tubby while running to bowl.

His batting seems to have suffered from his poor fitness as well.  Overall a nothing cricketer.  Had a purple patch but that's about it.  Past his peak perhaps & on steady decline as a player.  Sunday league player atm.

I really like him. When he was fit he was quite a good addition to the team but I dislike his current physical state. I depsise unfit players and especially ones that visibly look out of shape. Yes his batting noticeably was better when he was in shape. There is a correlation there.

I am fine with line and length as long as they are taught to do that at pace..WTF bowling coach is doing then..if he cant help him with drills to improve line and length at same pace..
