express bowling Posted September 13, 2024 Author Posted September 13, 2024 (edited) Harshit 31 off 29 balls in a low scoring innings. He is a powerful and big hitter. Smashed two 6s and four 4s. Pulled a 141 k short ball from Prasidh for a 4 too. Was not trying to hit every ball but farmed the strike batting with Kaverappa. Steyn had a ridiculously flexible wrist that allowed him to get a lot of backspin revs. But even then he used to get smashed when he bowled full and didn't get that swing. But when the ball wasn't swinging he would pepper the batsmen with skiddy short balls and get wickets. Bowled a high percentage of short balls in his career. Only ATG fast bowler I've seen who found success without being particularly accurate in terms of length.

Well, one has to pitch the ball full to see if there is any swing, if there isn't then bowlers will have to pull their lengths back or bowl at the good length area to generate any seam movement. Coming to Steyn, he actually has an immense control on his good length, it's just that he didn't had "variations" which is a must now for the flat patta's. Similar issue like Shami. Bumrah is perhaps the only one bowler who can bowl and control his lengths "on demand".
Lord Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Harshit's action is like Russell good pace but wayward so far
singhvivek141 Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 Bowlers are tired it seems. Kaverappa was bowling 128-135 in first inns, now bowling at 124-126
