I find this funnily weird that a bowler is expected to be able to bat, in order to get selected. Even if he is a frontline bowler! Why is it that opening batsmen are not chosen on the basis of their bowling skills?

Absolute madness!

I think Ashok has great attitude, so does Karthik Tyagi. Gurnoor seems to have all the boxes ticked too. Harshit Rana has already proven he has the right attitude to be in international scene. Support from captain and coach, I am assuming Mukesh Kumar and Kamboj will get,

Batting skills, well... why should a genuine fast bowler try gaining batting skills to prove his bowling?

Archer in the 1-2 overs I saw was bowling 133-138

The English pacers are not good at sustaining speeds like the Australians after 2010 or even Indians of the 2016 to 2023 era could.

And after Anderson and Broad, most English pacers are mediocre on the skill front too.

Of all the pacers in Eng vs NZ, only O'Rourke was consistently 135 k to 143 k in the overs that I saw.

Everyone else has lost pace after a few overs or were medium pace to begin with.

England missing Atkinson, who can bowl a zippy good length ball with some movement.

Fitness -> Ashok, Gurnoor

Speed -> Ashok, Mayank

Temperament -> Harshit, Gurnoor

Variations -> Harshit, Ashok

Bowling action -> Mayank, Tyagi

Fielding -> Ashok, Tyagi

Batting -> Harshit, Ashok/Gurnoor

Support from captain, coach. -> Cumbojh, Moorkhesh, Awaste,

Updated as per my observation. Kept only to top 2.

Mayank will hit higher speeds, but I think Ashok with his physique is likely to sustain the pace for longer amount of time.

Clocked 150 kph even in The Hundred

Very skiddy customer, deceptive pace.

He may be a Subcontinent type of quick bowler not necessarily suited to English conditions.

ODIs T20s he can be effective

O Rourke was easily most impressive quick on a supposedly flat deck and his partners reaped the benefits as well.

Nathan Smith bowled upto 140k and has wobble seam skills some other tricks up his sleeve.  Will be concerned abt him when our batters face him.  Dangerous customer against lefties especially

Baker was fairly erratic and less suited to the conditions.  Saw him bowl few 90mph here and there and his pace kept fluctuating.  Very skiddy though especially his bumpers.

Archer bowled quick in patches as well.  Fairly docile track to generate anything for him.  His bouncer barrage to Phillips was the highlight

Atkinson is being surely missed as Fisher is strict Military medium Trundler.  Kamboj style.

Yeah.  Low trajectory bowler. He may even do OK in England.

But will struggle in Southern Hemisphere and Windies.

Actually, even in Asia, unless he can consistently beat the inside edge with reverse, fast cutters - he'll struggle here as well.

Looked great in The Hundred 2025 but in his ODI debut, Markram made him look worse than an Anshul Kamboj level trundler.
