Sir Jadeja the test cricketer needs to go

Firstly,I know Jadeja has been a very polarizing figure since his debut and I do admit that he is tailor-made for Limited overs format and needs to be a regular but as a Test cricketer he is just a joke. Excuses made for him- The team collectively sucks i.e Batting,Bowling and Fielding Not a good enough reason,Just because the batsmen or front line bowlers are out of form or just plain suck, should not be the reason to absolve a bits and pieces player from all the blame. He is a worldclass fielder Agree but at the test match level that is not just good enough.We need a world class slip fielder right now and his fielding is a bonus but not a difference maker as it can be say in a limited overs game.His batting nor his bowling skills complement his world class fielding skills. We don't have a genuine allrounder Doesn't mean we play someone who is not good enough in either skill set....Leave alone Kallis or even a Vettori who made the team alone on one of their abilities,He is just not good enough in any department. Balance to the side/Combo debate 6 batsmen or 5 bowlers debate is something we can leave for another day.Both have their merits and demerits but one thing is for sure plugging in a bits and pieces player is not the solution to that problem.Either have 6 world class bats and 4 worldclass bowlers or 5 worldclass bats and 5 bowlers where one of them is good enough to be in the side as a batsman or a bowler with additional skill-sets. He is better than Ashwin,etc overseas Well he might have bowled better than Ashwin so far,but here is the thing Ashwin is our primary spinner based on his performances in S.C.So either we stick with him and hope he steps up overseas or replace him with a genuine spinner with proven credentials from domestics.We just can't keep giving Jadeja a free ride based on this benchmark.Nothing suggests that Jadeja is a world-class spinner whose batting is a bonus. The team is Failing collectively,why blame one guy Coming in at No 7,he should be good enough to bail us out once in a while,Just because the Top order failed doesn't give him a leeway of failing as well because No.7 or even 8 in test matches is a crucial position on many occasions which brings to my next point. His lack of Technique,temperament and Brainless batting At this point I rate Binny as a more solid batsman than Jadeja and that should tell us something.I have pointed this out before in Nz and in S.A at least on 2 occasions,he had a chance to step up to save or at least give us a competitive score but what does he do? Throws it all away with some mindless slogging.That is not attacking cricket but clearly a lack of technique as he has no shot of survival against decent-quality bowling and no temperament to fight it out in the middle. The blame fell on everyone else and Jadeja once again got a free ride.Why is that?Shouldn't every player individually be accountable for the team? I still think he can contribute in ODI's and T20's but it is sad that he has almost what looks like a permanent test slot.He is just not good enough.

I know he was picked as a specialist bowler is he one? is he an all rounder? is he a batsman who can bowl a bit or other way around. A confused role. Because of this nobody knows what to expect. If i were to gamble i would gamble with a genuine leggie. Some promising rookie. Just scout for leg spin talent alone. It is not that hard. Conduct a camp. Identify the potentials and pursue with them. Ojha may be a better option.

Dhoni plays him as an all-rounder, someone who can hold one end up when bowling, and bat at no.7. He likes the fact that Jadeja has done well for him in IPL and ODIs, so considers him an all round cricketer who is also lively in the field. He must also have been impressed by his attitude - something Dhoni values a lot (by attitude here I mean "chamchagiri"). But he needs to realise that basic technical abilities come foremost in test cricket. Jadeja's batting abilities - or lack thereof - have been brutally exposed in England, and his bowling hasn't been stellar (although he hasn't been terrible either). As an overall package, Jadeja hasn't delivered what he promised, and I think time has come to look beyond him.

Ashwin or Sharma are clearly the only viable number 7 options. Ashwin for overseas, Sharma for asian pitches. Jaddu clearly was never test batsman. Thats why I said before the south africa tour that dhoni should pick ashwin and 4 fast bowlers for test matches overseas.

Good post OP, in my mind his Lords batting has masked everything else he has (not) done... replace him with Shami, next test?! gives us a decent 4 man pace attack if Ishant comes in for PS too

Have no doubts thats India needs to go in with 5 bowlers,5 attacking bowlers actually to win the mqtch

even ashwin needs to go. if a spinner can;t get wickets, whats the meaning in picking him in a test team. high time we try out rookies from domestic cricket. wrist leg spinners will be a better bet considering their effectiveness in overseas conditions. anyways can;t expect this while dhoni is captain. jadeja will play 50+ tests with the hope that he will come good someday.

as a batsman cum 5th bowler he is ok. but we certainly need to find wicket taking bowlers. keep trying out fringe players is the way to go. we have the biggest domestic circuit among all cricket playing nations.

We can't expect any spinner to be successful overseas straightaway.He has shown signs that he can do well if there is little help in pitch like Durban or Lords.Should be batting at 9 though. That said Ashwin should play as 5th bowler along with 4 pacers as he can bat well enough for a no.7.He'll take time to be successful with the ball too but atleast can contribute with bat/field in the time he develops as a spinner overseas. Jaddu can be and should be in the squad as a backup
