You need a spinner that WILL get wickets not a 5th bowler just for the sake of it so if the others don't get wickets he may or may not cover for them so just have him incase. That's not how test sides should be selected and weakens the whole team. 7 batsmen, 4 bowlers, keep giving chances to guys until permanent team is found. In the long term it would pay off cause of stronger overall team.

Chopping and changing never works.None of our spinner will take wickets overseas straighaway.So having them as a 4th bowler is way too risky.Having Ashwin as 5th bowler with 4 pacers improves chances of taking 20 wickets without hampering our batting too much as he bats well. Plus he can take wickets on 5th day if pitch starts to offer turn.However hes not good enough to be part of 4 man attack overseas
