Marut Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 2011 was worse, but considering the fact that we were carrying a lot of old bones in that team, that team performed better. In 2011, there was the hope that a fresher team would change the fortunes, but those hopes are dashed now.

This time, no such excuse. Yes, Lords was a huge positive but this series is more heartbreaking for us. Plus 2011 was a really good side with Swann. This time, we got owned by Moeen Ali. :((

This has been a historical trend on overseas tour, we do out best in first test or may be first two tests, after that we just give up. In England last tour, we competed in first 2 tests and then gave up. In Australia we did well in Melbourne and Sydney and then it was all one-sided. Many other overseas tours we started by inning first test only to allow other team to come back. We should play only 2 test series overseas. If we had played only 2 here, we would have won series 1-0 like Lanka :-)

By the time last test comes our team is in hurry to finish the game.
someone Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 100% worse, in 2011, there were few genuine positives. Like Dravid who performed consistently. Here, we don't have any genuine or true positives. A very sad time to be a Indian cricket fan currently.

This England team is filled with kids who lost a series a few weeks prior to Sri Lanka at HOME!! Very weak team if you compare it to the one in 2011. This is much worse than 2011 in that sense because we are unlikely to face a weaker Eng team at home. This is comparable to the 4-0 loss to the Aussies who similarly had an inexperienced team takinf us on In 2011, Indian team was word no. 1. This team is nothing. We won a test here which is an improvement.
