rkt.india Posted October 14, 2014 Posted October 14, 2014 Akshar Patel, the Gujarat and Kings XI Punjab left-arm spinner, has been added as the 15th member to the India squad for the remaining two ODIs against West Indies. Akshar, along with Manish Pandey, has also been included in the 14-man squad for the only T20 international that follows the ODIs. Akshar, who has played three ODIs, made his India debut against Bangladesh in June following a strong IPL season. He was the second-most successful spinner in the recent Champions League T20 behind Sunil Narine with eight wickets from five games at an economy-rate of 6.15. Pandey, the first Indian to make a century in the IPL, is yet to make his international debut. He has featured in every season of the IPL so far and made 2373 runs from 106 T20s at an average of 26.96 and a strike-rate of 116.43. Good logic dude Mishra is the best leg spinner in India at present and one of the best in the world. It is good logic. Mishra's skills are unquestionable but all it takes is one event for him to completely lose it and bowl dollies. Eg - WC T20 semifinal - He lost it when he bowled a no ball. Was thrashed in SF, then Final and didn't even recover in IPL that came next. Against India-Aus series in India, he played in a game and bowled some brilliant initial overs. Then later on, he got hit for a few and then started bowling dollies. Its a trend for Mishra. I don't care if he can run through batting lineups. Until he can prove that he can comeback from getting whacked in a consistent manner, he is a risk. He is the kind of guy who will win you all the games single handedly and then lose you a knockout game singlehandedly. Mishra Vs Karn Sharma mental strength was seen match after match in IPL. When both got whacked, one kept on fighting while the other crumbled without a trace. Was bowling miles better than Jaddu and Ashwin. 4th over - 10 runs (one sixer) 5th over - 14 runs (one 6 and 4).....this was around 25th over Then the wheels came off. It was NOT like he was bowling brilliantly and Aussie took him apart. There were a LOT of dollies in his later overs. Same again last WI match. Till he got that Pollard wicket, he was hardly good. Mishra is not mentally strong even though he is skill wise the best leg spinner in the world. We can't risk him for WC 2015. Maybe later on but definitely NOT now.
