he is relatively new comer in tests compared to kohli who also took some time to get going. i would say at this stage he is progressing well. Pujara is the one who started really well and is facing some tougher times. his frequent injuries and not playing limited overs has an impact on being off color at times.

Tbh I don't care how he looks ... He has been scoring runs quite consistently so far. He has had some bad calls against him but other than that he is doing fine.

He's still way better than the likes of Rohit Sharma and Saha. Maybe Kedar Jadhav or Manoj Tiwary can be tried in Rohit's place and Sanju Samson should be groomed as the backup wkt keeper.

His ton at Lord's - He came in at 113/4 with India batting first one day 1. Again, some pressure, but not exactly high pressure. His SA knock- He came in at 199/4 India batting first, Day 1. I'm forgetting his 8/4 half century. All these innings were really good innings. But they were routine pressure situations. Not particularly high pressure.

Rahane lacks consistency,not lack of technique....He will play a blinder on a minefield or a grassy pitch but will not make it count on a Patta. One gets the feeling that he has been scoring 50's and 100's every other innings but he barely averages 40...Yes he got a howler last game but that doesn't take away that he lacks consistency. Has no real chinks in his armor except temparament

Here is how I view Rahane....Givie him the flattest track in the world he will make a 30(15) ball inning,wow us and then throw it away,give him a difficult pitch 8/10 times he might end up being a top scorer with a brilliant 50 or even a 100 but won't finish the game like Laxman or keep going on and on like Dravid,once again impress his critics that's about it. Needs to make it count when he has the opportunity,right now seems like someone who lacks concentration.
