Seriously it is becoming a distant dream. Our batting middle order is iffy. But that is on par with most of the world teams. In bowling we lag so far behind lot of teams that we expect our batting to bail us out every single time. It is frustrating to watch us long wicketless sessions.

It's a massive problem, but I don't think having 5 bowlers will help the problem. 5 rubbish bowlers isn't better than 4. It's worse in fact, because you replace a batsman. Right now, unfortunately, I think our best pace attack is Ishant, Umesh, and Varun. The spin department is even more worrying. I would persist with Karn Sharma for a few more matches. Hopefully he can learn from this experience.

The back up options look weak. These are the best 5 bowlers that we have. Need to groom them over time

bar Ishant, our bowlers played in this match had 12 tests under their belt. It is difficult to believe that they are going to run through teams on relatively flatter tracks where even far more experienced fast bowlers struggled to pick wickets. In this match, we missed a spinner who could use that rough. Aus pacers were as ineffective here if not for Lyon. If we need to build an attack and these are the best guys we have and need to be persisted.

That's the thing. They always have 4 bowlers capable of destroying a batting lineup. India have zero.

It has always been like that. In the past also it was true. McGrath would get you. If he didn't Warne would get you. If he didn't Jason would get you. If he didn't Bichel would get you. And so on. It is not necessary for bowlers to share wickets and fire in every match. If you have four good bowlers, and one of them has a really good day, he will rip you out. No current Indian bowler can run through a side outside India - that is our main problem.

For a fast bowler just to average low 30 he needs pace, accuracy, bounce, swing and or seam. Most our guys are one or 2 trick ponies.
