We can never win an away series in Aus or South Africa

Now I can say this with certainty. We could not achieve this for years even during Sachin's regime. At any point of time, either the bowling unit is bad or the batting unit. If these are ok, the captaincy wreaks havoc. We may win 1 test here and there but for a series victory, much more is needed. A coordinated effort is required.

difference is approach aussie bowlers learn from their mistakes, ours dont our captain lacks common sense. in sub-continent series, you still see overseas teams have crowded fields and attack yet reverse does not apply Our moronic captain has screwed it up again.

Two fast bowlers with sub 30 averages, or at least one with sub 30 are needed. Till we find these we won't win a series in Oz and SA. Umesh is the closest we have so far.

We had a golden chance in 2004 Australia as we were dominating the fourth Test. But Ganguly chose not to enforce the follow on and Aussies escaped with a draw Thats the closest we'd get :((

That's australia but the closest we got was at cape town 2007 before Sachin and dravid screwed up. Sachin made up for it in 2010 but our kaptaan and ishant sharma screwed up

Sad that in a sport played by a handful of countries we have never won in home soil of 2 of them. And that too in a sport which is no 1 in popularity, rich board, good infrastructure, abundance of talent etc. Our boxers, wrestlers, tennis players, chess players etc deserve more respect than they get because most of the superpowers like US,Germany,China,Russia etc take part.

With only one batman averaging 45+ we aren't winning many test matches any where. They don't have the skill+concentration for test cricket. Bowling is poor but always had been. We've won test matches with rp singh and Ifran pathan. I think yadav b kumar and ishant isn't that bad a bowling attack but our batting just sucks at the moment.

Actually our bowlers get all the blame but our batting followed by our slip catching definitely exceed everything else. Even in 2011,we had some sessions were our batting could have at-least stood up and saved the game. Also inefficient umpiring which again BCCI is partly to blame for their stand on DRS but not an excuse for umpires plain sucking is another big reason.

And the dumbass captain and the selectors kept him out of the side for 2 years for no apparent reason. :giggle:

personally i feel that we will be able to win a test series in Australia soon enough. but South Africa seems impossible at this time. we are just not equipped to handle those conditions. our best cance was in 2006-07 when they laid out a bunch of flat, spinning tracks to us and we won a match but ended up throwing away the initiative

There were no flat tracks there in 2006/07. We won on the fastest pitch there in the first test due to Sreesanth. Last test Newlands offered help to spinners but we lost it when we started playing for a draw when we were effectively some 130/3 in the 3rd innings. In 2010/11 we were much closer when we had SA at 130/6 in the third innings after that we couldn't get Kallis out and tail wagged.

sad affair, we are more capable to win. First, we don't even select best 11 to play, Umesh came back after 2 years and was clearly best bowler. We have been crying out here from years. We keep selecting Nohit when he can't even score a fifty, when other tea #11 is scoring more runs than him. It tells you whole story. We kept selecting Jadeja who can't even bat or bowl. Secondly, we get panicked in every series losing 4 to 5 wickets, we are mentally weak when it comes to test cricket. After Kohli got out, every one all of sudden started batting like tail ender. Thats not the way to go. Thirdly, we drop way too many catches. Why is Kohli in slips when he drops one catch every Test he plays. Even Pakis got better slip fielders than us. Lastly, DRS. For crying to sake, if we had DRS we could have saved few test matches. BCCI is being stubborn regarding it.

The differnece is approach. Our bowlers don't learn anything. It looks like they bowl without any practice.A good example is Ishant Sharma's no balls. At dis level hoe can someone bowl these much no balls(big no balls)Even in 2nd innings of aus when they were chasing 127,he bowled 6 no balls. It is not accepatable at dis stage. Can't win away series with this type of bowling unit.
