Gambit Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Damien Martyn got dropped for 6 years for playing a similar rash stroke but that was in a loss and he was not making his debut. But considering all three of Rahul's strokes (including the drop in the first innings) not sure he should be picked for the 4th.

From what I heard, he has what it takes to play at the highest level..... 20 year old guy; playing his first match and facing the likes of Johnson .....it's not easy...that too away from home... I hated the away he got out but I think it has something to do with nerves... Give him the next full series and take a call..... one or 2 matches are way to small sample to recognize the talent

Yes, he toured as an Ind A opener in Aus and got out in 20s and 30s in the matches if I remember correct. Both him and Uthappa were failures in that tour. I think Rahul is not yet ready for International cricket. A tours usually give a fair indication of readiness for the next level.

Playing in ranji now will do him no good he is at point where he is good enough for that he should play in many a tours get matches at home and in year to so will look like he is good enough like rahane
maniac Posted December 30, 2014 Posted December 30, 2014 Rohit Sharma all the way...Rohit scored 43 and 32.....nothing wrong with those scores,he got out due to trying to take the initiative as the situation demanded...If Yuvi and Raina have played close to or more than 20 tests,Rohit needs to be given a longer rope....he hasn't completely flopped like people are making him out to be. Rahul needs to open a position he is selected for replacing Dhawan and see how he does....Yes benefit of doubt to him...got overwhelmed by the occasion and obviously he has never come across someone like M.J in domestics,A left armer who can bowl express and a line that can hurt you.
