Yusuf pathan would have been ideal instead of one of the spinners if he was in form. But with only 4 fielders on the boundary at all times, part timers struggle even more now.

All these guys can hit big but not on these big grounds. That Raina shot would have been 6 in India, but in Aus, you need more power to clear 90 meter boundaries.

Based on what is available in the squad, there is not a lot Ind can do about its lower order hitting apart from hoping that the guys batting lower down get in to some match winning form Ind can probably approach this issue strategically/tactically: a) Get guys like Jadeja to bat higher up the order vs. teams such as UAE so that he get in to a groove b) Depending upon the situation, probably send guys like Shami at #8 ahead of Ashwin c) The coach can work with the lower order on high percentage shots d) One of Raina and Dhoni should try to stay till the end with controlled hitting rather than slogging every ball e) If we are 6 or more down by 45th overs, the lower order should play sensibly and leave the slogging till the 48th over. Pick up singles and twos and get the bad ball away. They don't have to try to be Russell

I am not saying that this will not work but one thing to consider would be that by playing Binny is Ind disrupting its bowling combination, which has worked splendidly so for. In the overall scheme, the benefit of playing Binny at #7 could be < the cost of disrupting the bowling combination

At 4 ,this allows him to play his natural style because we are totally wasting him right now.

Jadeja, Dhoni should bat up the order in the next game to allow them more time in the middle and get their groove back. Batting for some time will help them get used to the conditions and help get some form back. Its never easy to come and slog right away if your confidence is a bit low.

I'd like to see Binny play. I think he is a better hitter and he just needs to bowl in the corridor. I think he can bowl similar to Mohit (if lesser pace), but that would be good enough of he can get a little swing. We gotta make the best of what we have. And we definitely need to improve on the slog over hitting.
