Rohit Sharma is third rate gamble and hopefully will win a game sometime, can't help that part now... Jaddu should have had a practice against Ireland, he is a worry... The match against Aus is very tough but we have a fair chance.. Also remember all teams have issues, so it's a race among equals Me too. Rohit can't be replaced now. Only hope is prayer. Glad Ashwin got whacked too. Now he has a few days to think about what to do. Better now than in knockouts. Jaddu has to work on his game but still he is the best bet for a decent balance. 2 spinners with different skill sets has its advantages.
vijay50 Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 negatives 1) raina will always be circumspect against shortball. aus won't be as kind as other teams in this aspect. also jadeja still doesn't evoke confidence with the bat. 2) rohit sharma continues to prove he is useless and nothing short of a miracle can save us from an early wicket with him there 3) spinners bowl decently until someone takes them out of their comfort zones like maxwell, taylor, etc two things can ensure our way into final- 1) masterclass innings by kohli, rahane, dhawan, or dhoni in the next 2-3 matches. 2) once-in a lifetime spells by our fast bowlers. This. Also to add that chances of beating Aus will increase, if we bat first and make 300+.

Back then, we could hardly do well in the power plays, could not defend 300ish targets and barely stumbled over England & SAF in the group stages. What this team has shown is that they are flawed, but quite resilient. They've been successful in putting the opponents in their place early on in the game and if put under pressure have bounced back. Good, but surprising ride so far - did not expect such a smooth sailing in the initial round. KO games are about mastering the conditions on that day and riding on the momentum, so there is hope. That said, in this world cup many teams have picked up their slack as the tournament went on & are heading to the QF in good form. I think India & Pakistan, unfortunately, are heading to the guillotine. It will be Pakistan's turn first. I don't see India getting past this Aussie lineup at the SCG. In these conditions, Aussies are the team to beat - they just have too much firepower. This team has been much more convincing in the group stages than 2011. Lost to SA, couldn't defend 335 against England. Heck even WI stopped us below 270 and were 160-2 in 30 overs at one stage while chasing. The difference this time is that other teams like Aus and NZ are better suited in these conditions... Otherwise I agree this team till now has fared better than 2011, mainly coz of bowlers

In Sydney the conditions are more sub continental than Australian And NZL if we play will be at MCG.So they won't be in home conditions

Rohit and Dhawan's lack of technique can get them out. 2. That would put too much pressure on Kohli and Rahane. If one of them falls, batting can get really tough in a knockout. 3. Spinners when attacked can go haywire. India has its weaknesses. When Dhawan scores, everything gets hidden. That's why today's knock of Dhoni and Raina was a much needed one. All current teams have theirs. Aussies 2003 and 2007; WI 1979 and 1983 were the only nearly flawless teams ever in a WC. All teams struggle when one or two of the top order batsmen get dismissed cheaply especially while chasing, this problem is hardly unique to India.

How do you select Ravi Jadeja in playing 11 repeatedly? 2. How is there no stronger replacement (than ambati hackdu) for Nohit Sharma in the squad of 15? 3. How is Stuart Binny and injured Bhuvi the only backup for bowling? 4. How is R.Jadeja the specialist allrounder for such a vital tournament in Aus/NZ pitches? And Binny who dhoni doesnt like to play in the 11. 5. How does a team win WC carrying 2 passengers (Nohit and R.Jadeja) in playing 11? When will Nohit be held accountable for his "loose shots" aka brain farts? This team has played superb and deserves to be in the Finals if not for the fringe passenger selections. Lets hope the main 4-5 players compensate for the passengers and hope we do well in all KO of this tournament.
