Temujin Khaghan Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 we were nicely getting set for a 180/0 in 30 could have easily won from there.
bulbul Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 You don't counter non-sense by more non-sense; just doesn't work that way. That's in Ideal world, not in ICF world. You wont get logic in every subject, particularly in online debate which is mostly harmless.
goose Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 Another thing, this is the first and only thread i've made against an Indian player in 10 years.
vvvslaxman Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Who doesn't take the blame in the team? Maybe Ashwin and that's it. Apart from him who isn't to blame? That is why i don't blame anyone. If you have everyone to blame. Let us just zip up and admit we got outplayed. All the things that happened was pretty much right on cue. Everyone knew.

VRV Singh Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Many were culpable but that from Dhawan was poor. At that point he was going down the track and going for everything. That is not even how he has played his best innings before. He should have taken stock and recognised that he was in, game was never going to be won or lost in that short period. But leaving that aside he had still given those following a good platform so it cannot legislate for them.
rkt.india Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I can accept poor form and many weaknesses in a batsman - in the end we struggled with the bounce. I will not tolerate mental weakness at this level. Forget the shot...it's not the shot it's his approach to the innings. He treats it like a personal quest for the great prize - he is but one cog. He squandered his team's position. That is unforgiveable. To all those saying the middle order collapsed...i fell asleep after Dhawan's wicket, i knew then it was over. Agree. If you are in, you need to play as long as possible. take the responsibility. Macculym threw his wicket the other day similarly. We needed two big innings from top 3.
G_B_ Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 cant believe people having a go that Dhawan with slowhit batting and slowhane to come he did his job and set up a good platform.
rkt.india Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Who doesn't take the blame in the team? Maybe Ashwin and that's it. Apart from him who isn't to blame? Yadav to some extent. Those crucial strikes made the difference of 30-40 runs. They were looking 360-370 at once.
urbestfriend Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Agree..Dhawan's was playing one too many shots, and tried to get out many times. When chasing big scores, it is very important to keep the wickets in hand, and statistically we can double the score from 32/33rd over with wickets in hand. When he got a start, he should have been calmer, played less risky shots, and consolidated the start..A very stupid gameplan going for shots every other ball.
rkt.india Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 cant believe people having a go that Dhawan with slowhit batting and slowhane to come he did his job and set up a good platform. Is that enough for an opener? If that is enough then why would anyone score big 100s. Make 40 ball 40 and be content. He was not batting in slog last 5 covers. He needed to play big innings. You need big innings from top 3 to chase such big scores.

PBN Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Dhawan had just started going in full flow and India was well placed at that moment and on top of the game. The momentum shifted after that. Btw, there was only one player on the off when he played that shot so kinda got unlucky to have sliced it straight to Maxwell. It's a team game so can't really single out Dhawan especially considering none of the other batsmen stood up. It was one of those days where nothing fell in place for the Indian batsmen.
goose Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 You need to look at the psyche of Indian batting sides. They bask in perceptions of their own invincibility whether true or not. When that first wicket goes down the myth takes a big knock. It must be postponed as much as possible. The alternative is to go hell for leather at the beginning. If he got out that way I would have no problem but you could tell from his walk back that he succumbed. That failure transmits itself to the rest of the team. This side operates on the basis one guy will get the hundred. He broke that contract with the side.
goose Posted March 26, 2015 Author Posted March 26, 2015 btw' date=' goose did you bet on dhawan/india? :P[/quote'] No but i always thought Dhawan's role was critical. Difficult to express that view with the bookmakers though.
vijay50 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I blame Nohit Idiot was consuming balls like no other while building pressure on Dhawan. Idiot Nohit was his usual boundary or dot ball mode. So sick of this moron not trying or attempting to even work the singles. I don't care how much he beats up on minnows but the guy is garbage as an opener against good teams. When will this idiot learn to rotate strike? Rohits batting is like diesel vehicle. Consumes lots of gas/fuel (balls), but very little mileage (runs) to show for it. Hereon, Iam going to call him Diesel man.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Dhawan played well and fell on his sword trying to up the run rate. Chasing 328 in Aus is not that easy especially when Starc and Johnson had a bunch of overs up their sleeves. If India were chasing a more manageable score in the vicinity of 280-300 he could have taken it easy but a score nearer 330 was a bit too much. It's the middle order which should take more of the blame for not building on the decent platform laid out by Dhawan. IMO our batting was way too light with Jaddu at 7 followed by 4 bowlers and Rahane in top 5. There were barely any power hitters and when you compare to Aussies which had likes of Faulkner, Haddin and Johnson at 7, 8 and 9 the true gulf in batting depth between the two sides becomes apparent.
Sachinism Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Shiii happens. Dhawan played attacking, that attacking play got us the good start. You can't cheer a player for playing aggressively and then criticise them for the same thing. We were chasing a big score and we needed to keep going He sliced that shot, it happens.
