G_B_ Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 Its a fair call even though India reached the semis i thought it was bit of a team performance with nobody really standing out. In a way its a good thing as during the 7 victories runs and wickets did not come from the same people.

So that would have counted as well. African players are in the side because Duckworth Lewis screw ed them. Else they could have been the finalist

Everyone keeps putting Guptill in the side, in the games that mattered he did relatively little. I know India were beaten but Dharwan did it against the best bowling side including Starc.

Does anybody remember how many Indians made it to the "2011 WC team"?It's all about winning the cup and I wouldn't mind us winning the cup and nobody making it to the tourney team. And even if I had to pick the team of the tourney the only Indian I would've picked would be Dhawan as the guy showed against better teams - Pak, SA and Aus. Shami would be next on my list but with folks like Starc and Boult I don't think he would've gotten into the team - squad maybe but not the playing XI. So I don't really see it as a snub - just the reality that India played more as a team with contributions from most than depend on a few standout contributions.

World X1 are about team of individual best performances, not necessarily the best team. Only contenders were Ashwin and Shami. Yadav is an honorary mention. Dhawan had good tournament but not same as other openers.

HippoSucks Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 I disagree with the selection of Guptill and McCullum. I would rather have Dhawan and Warner in place of them. Guptil scored 500+ runs just because of one innings and McCullum is just slogging right now.
