mishra Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Tweeting 20 mins later ? is it not possible that people on the ground were aware of his death before TOI's breaking news. Or perhaps it was a vast KHANspiracy hatched by AAP. Sorry a farmer has died. But let me put it istraight to you. I remember Mandal Commission during VP Singh where a lot of students self immolated and succumbed. Have you ever known/seen how such incidents unfold. A group of people keep on cheering for the victim to commit the act. Event organizers would have generally given assurance to the victim that medical aid will reach in time. This was then. Andoffcourse , If you try to reason with the victim you will be thrown out or your voice will die in crowd I dont think politicians have changed since then.
BeautifulGame Posted April 22, 2015 Author Posted April 22, 2015 Few months back' date=' Modi did mention something along similar lines. But it will take times.[/quote'] The current central govt actually wanted to scrap the interest concession loans given to farmers from banks .But last week has done a u turn and extended till June 30 .Now saying they are working out a new scheme to replace it probably becoz the backlash in farmer land bill and recent news of farmer suicides Congress screwed the farmers with NREGS scheme and now even BJP aren't scrapping it .
mishra Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 ^ NREGA has brought corruption at grass root Village Panchayat level. However scrapping it means loosing a lot of rural vote and there is risk for a lot of poor people going hungry.
amiret Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Another farmer from Rajasthan commits suicide. Hours after Gajendra Singh, a farmer from Rajasthan, hanged himself from a tree at Jantar Mantar during Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) rally, another farmer has committed suicide in Alwar. After a loss of crop and denial of compensation, the farmer jumped before a running train in Alwar. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/farmer-suicide-gajendra-aap-delhi-another-farmer-body-alwar/1/431621.html
Desi Cartman Posted April 22, 2015 Posted April 22, 2015 Government has to stop doing what it is not meant to do and focus on its core responsibility. I dont want to dwell into details but our sarkars have been focused on giving ridiculous freebies and guarantees which neither help the govt nor help poor people get out of poverty, they are supposed to plan, invest in infrastructure and help businesses/farmers get easy finance. The governments have been focusing too much on social issues and its been true for all governments. People responsible are very often illiterate, corrupt and have no real interest or a plan to fix anything.

I think it is an act of an unbalanced man , still a sad tale. His story's credibility will will be debated in all shows 24/7 and cloud the real farmers' woes. The family of Gajendra Singh Kalyanwat, who committed suicide at the AAP rally on Wednesday, owns some 10 acres of land, including a gooseberry orchard and a teak plantation — but the man’s heart was not in farming. Family members and friends remembered the 43-year-old, father-of-three as politically ambitious, having unsuccessfully tried twice – in 2008 and 2013 -- to fight the assembly elections as a Samajwadi Party candidate. After that, he wanted to join the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). “He left the village 3-4 days back saying he was going to try to meet Kejriwal,” said Amit Singh Kalyanwat, Gajendra’s nephew. “He said he would stay in Delhi with his brother who is a constable of RAC there.” An HT correspondent visiting Gajendra’s village, about 120 km east of Jaipur, was stopped from reaching his house. Neighbours said his ageing father and wife had not been told about the death as there was a wedding in the extended family. An uncle had left for Delhi to receive Gajendra’s body which was expected back in the village on Thursday morning. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/gajendra-singh-farmer-suicide-at-aap-rally/1/431610.html A resident of Nangal Jhamalwaran in Dausa district of Rajasthan, Singh was living in Jaipur after being asked by his father to leave home, as he mentioned in the suicide note. Gajendra's father was angry with him for not concentrating on farming and taking care of his wife and three kids, say official sources quoting his family circles. The Dark Horse Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 No one bats an eyelid for farmers. The day will come when we don't have food to eat. Only then they will realise.

mishra Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Very sad... These tragedies can be stopped... BJP is screwing up... Rate of suicide among farmers has been increasing since past few years. I think currently its about 7 farmers a day. Also data shows. The suicide rate in India is around 15 per 100,000. The suicide rate among agricultural workers is around seven per 100,000.
ravishingravi Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Only one small point. The handwriting on the note doesn't match
amiret Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 This is what i was saying yesterday http://indianexpress.com/article/cities/delhi/farmers-suicide-delhi-police-in-fir-says-aap-workers-clapped-cheered-when-gajender-hanged-himself/ Farmer’s suicide: Delhi police in FIR says AAP workers clapped, cheered when Gajender hanged himself Won't be surprised if Delhi police & Social Media says Kejri pushed the man from the tree. However news reports have not suggested that anybody cheered his hanging. from indian express. Wearing a red turban and wielding a broom, Singh perched on the branches. Most mistook him for an eager Kejriwal supporter trying to get a better glimpse of the Chief Minister who had arrived a few moments earlier. In the next 15 minutes, however, Singh seemed to want catch the attention of those below. He began waving his hands and speaking, but the words were drowned by the speeches from the dais. perhaps this is what they were cheering ? And now delhi police wants to claim they were rejoicing over his death ? “He seemed to want to draw attention to himself. But nobody seemed interested. Even as he tied a towel around his neck, he continued to shout, but he was so high that we could barely hear him,” an eyewitness said.

Some data would be nice.

Politicians sacrifice people on their own agenda. Not just AAP, Its same for every other politician too.
vipin Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Too many farmers in India. 60% of the population in agriculture contributing only 20% of the income. Make in India really needs to be kickstarted big time and this excessive manpower needs to be transferred there.
mishra Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Is crop failure the main reason for farmer suicides? Some data would be nice. I dont know, But I think crop failure suicides are being incorrectly linked to land reform bill. For example, In Delhi one, suicide note said crop failure, while Kejriwal and AAP said Land reform bill and police to blame. All political parties said land reform bill and AAP to blame for death. For past few months media has been very keen in covering farmers death and then linking the suicides to Land Reform bill. Make in India is dead if Land Reform bill doesn't pass. Simple as that
diga Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Make in India is dead if Land Reform bill doesn't pass. Simple as that Only if NGO's & liberals allow it..In this case, "Ends justify the means"
vipin Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 The government should not step back from reforms or the dreams of 9% growth will be over even before starting.
mishra Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 Only if NGO's & liberals allow it..In this case' date=' "Ends justify the means"[/quote'] You see, after people openly started doubting Indian Presstitute medias intentions for airing communal views and blaming Hindus now they seem to have started with farmers. Question is why are we relying on forces of nature so much in 21st century. What has government done to modernize Indian farming.
Cricket_Hacker Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 What happened to the "Smart City" project.I think it was based on China's ideology to create new cities which will automatically get filled up due to urbanization and create jobs.
