I see we all challenge each other with level of IQ. I always found that very rude way of communicating with others. I had never taken the test before. But I wanted to find out more. So I found couple of places where one can take a test for free. On one such site, I took the test. Has anyone taken the real IQ test which is conducted professionally? how does the free test fare against the professional ones? Intelligence Interval Cognitive Designation 40 - 54 Severely challenged (Less than 1% of test takers) 55 - 69 Challenged (2.3% of test takers) 70 - 84 Below average 85 - 114 Average (68% of test takers) 115 - 129 Above average 130 - 144 Gifted (2.3% of test takers) 145 - 159 Genius (Less than 1% of test takers) 160 - 175 Extraordinary genius http://www.free-iqtest.net/ Whats your opinion on the overall hype over IQ? can it really judge how intelligent the person is?

I felt the same way. But I doubt the actual test would way far from these tests. Question is why do posters humiliate each other with such a measure which is so not complete in itself. Folks chime in. I don't care about your IQ test score.

The test is very basic. Anyways these tests are useless if you intend to measure the intelligence of a person. You can practice some reasoning/quant questions and boost your score. The same is true for any competitive/aptitude exam. You prepare and reach a particular level and then its easy to crack the exam. Some may figure out and reach that level in the first attempt while some may take some time to identify and reach that level.

IQ tests seem to be maths heavy. It has its value, but intelligence is a spectrum. Look up Howard Gardner.
Also asking meaning of words is not really measure of IQ. It is knowledge not IQ.

l160.gif IIRC I was administered an actual IQ test (under proper conditions) some years back and the result was a good 20 points lower than this.
i bet you tried to give you more than 160 :giggle: l160.gifl150.gifl140.gif

Totally.
Common sense >>>>IQ
Yes. This is the whole debate about street smarts vs book smarts etc. IMO, true 'geniuses' are virtuosos who are equally competent in both left-brained and right-brained domains. Einstein is one I can think of. Not many know he was a master violinist, and a pretty sage philosopher. IQ cannot measure creativity and that is just a crater of a gap in a test that is supposed to measure intelligence.
