nikred Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I need my frequent dose of nonveg food. I stay away from heart, liver, kidneys as I am not used to eating as a kid. From that point of view I understand why some vegetarians can't get themselves to eat meat. Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Clarke Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 If people stop being non veg' date= there will be dearth of veg food and lot more people will be dying of hunger. Non veg food makes up for a lot of food demand. Non veg food alone won't be enough to feed 6-7 million people. That is so not true. Meat almost always comes from animals on small/large farms and their feed comes from agriculture as well, although grasslands are also used to some extent. Scientifically speaking, the number of plants one needs to grow to feed an animal increases as per the size of the animal. Which is not to say don't consume meat, I'd be the last shakahari to advocate that. Personally, I might start consuming some meat replica when it comes from the lab/factory.

All type of meat does not come from animals that eat grass.
mishra Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 :hatsoff: #respect people who act all holy and morally upright and religious at home but let go of this fake persona when they are abroad are people who I don't like at all. why the need for such deception is what I ask? They are termed as Progressive. They adapt to survive. Whats wrong with that?
AmreekanDesi Posted May 29, 2015 Author Posted May 29, 2015 They are termed as Progressive. They adapt to survive. Whats wrong with that? because when they were veg they acted all high and mighty and looked down on others and madeothers feel bad for supporting killing animals
Clarke Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 All type of meat does not come from animals that eat grass. That's what I said as well. Your earlier claim was totally false.
mishra Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 because when they were veg they acted all high and mighty and looked down on others and madeothers feel bad for supporting killing animals Still why? They had new experience and they accepted it as their future perspective. I hope you are not mixing it with Hippocrates who oppose certain things in socitey and do the same in private.

Seafood sustain lot of people and in future there is scope of farming of fish in sea Buffalo meat in India is also by product of milk industry and if India also start using cow meat then it is also a byproduct. In India only chicken come from factory farming of feeding grains to them to some extent pork. Goats are also raised in India small scale by feeding wild plants and give great profit to poor people

My guess is a lot of the meat worldwide does rely on agriculture, not that I'm offended by it. I just don't see the logic in people starving without meat in the same way that I don't see any sense in converting people to my dietary preferences.
Raghav_12 Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I was vegetarian for first 23 years of my life without any kind of cultural or religious reason. But it got all changed for good on second day of my first US trip.
hhunaeh Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 People underestimate the impact their environment has on what they feel are their core convictions and choices.
maniac Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I understand if you grew up in a household where non veg cuisine is regularly cooked, you can have such doubts as the op had,but myth 1-if you live in us,uk or any other western country that you cannot survive without turning non vegetarian . This is just a reason people tell themselves to justify it or feel less guilty(especially the religious types)....except a McDonald's or a stakehouse, veg food is available everywhere be it popular franchises like burger king, chipotle, subway, jimmy johns ,Olive Garden or potbelly. Myth2- only religious or hipster types eat a veg or a vegan diet I am neither...I just grew up in a household that neither cooked or consumed .never got into it. Having said that a couple of years in my college days I did have non veg(only chicken) especially after or during the process of getting drunk to go with alcohol but that's about it...never really got into it and one fine day just realized I am not a fan.so I am not religious, not a hipster or neither will rub it in that I am better than the non veg eaters(even though you know it I am better than you for being a veggie for life :finger:)
maniac Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Just like yoda said,I have been in us for a decade or over and never really came close to turning non vegetarian

But I don't pity non-vegetarians
Precambrian Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 I am a veg since the age of five and has got nothing to do with religion, family or any pressures. I find it really enough for my needs, and somehow serves my spiritual inclination. I don't think I am special or better than others because everyone else in my family eats meat. Just that it suits me, my set of values, that's it.
randomGuy Posted May 29, 2015 Posted May 29, 2015 Depends on the cooking methods. I find the smell of fried eggs is always inviting me to taste it. I guess it depends on the type of dish. Kababs look tasty for ex. (still won't eat them though).
