Temujin Khaghan Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 already our slips take only half the catches that comes their way. let saha be, he doesnt miss many. karthik is like a monkey which tries to steal hot food and juggles, does acrobatics and eventually slips it off on the ground parthiv patel is a good batsman who can get a start in every innings but he is called pappu for a reason samson is very overrated. rather have uthappa if everyone insists on a batsman-keeper
MCcricket Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Saha is a very good keeper n a good batsmen , just needs longer run which he will get, have seen him bat , he can bat n is gutsy
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 if the new keeper doesn't score a 50 in his first 2 games, fans will want another keeper. and after sometime will whine for saha's comeback again.
vvvslaxman Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 25 if we play 7-4 combination, 35 if 6-5. :winky: I would settle at around 29-31. Remember Dhoni was an exception, a very under rated test batsman. Will be lucky if we get a replacement as good as him, he was the ultimate luxury for us coming at no 7 all these years. Throughout our cricketing history we never really had awesome WK bats so I don't have high expectations. But that has become the norm all over the world for quiet some time. Since India has no all rounder will always go with 5 bowlers with guys like Shami, Umesh, Ishant as tail. They can do zilch with bat.We could go from 350 for 4 to 370 all out invariably.
maniac Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Yep Saha is not just good enough just as I thought....get Samson in asap....might make some mistakes initially but he has the natural talent and flair to make it count in the big leagues. Ojha is not a long term option. To make a positive desicion to get Samson in asap.

Sometimes certain posts have so much truth that they end up depressing you. :((
maniac Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 And what about his keeping? We don't want a Kamran Akmal. He isn't that bad....nothing about Saha that screams world class keeper. Samson is not horrible and all we can do is hope he has the dedication to improve himself....gilchrist or even to some extent Dhoni were not world class keepers either....they were just decent keepers who had that X factor with the bat and turned out pretty well, though dhoni was average against fast bowling in his latter career but you get the point

Is he even a regular keeper for his domestic side? Kamran Akmal when he broke into Pakistan side was quite good before he descended into complete mediocrity. Dhoni may not be acrobatic but he was always safe and was a great keeper for spinners. Samson right now is at best passable (based on what I have been hearing from posters). If he isn't a regular keeper with solid credentials, we will be taking a big risk.
Doof Warrior Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Naman Ojha seems to be a class player. Should pick him of ahead of others and we can groom samson meanwhile.
X-Factor Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 I've said this before in another thread - when PAK started with Sarfraz he looked like a tailender despite doing well in FC and everyone thought he was crap, but he eventually has delivered and is a pretty solid option for us in tests now (atleast in Asia). Give Saha a proper run, he has a good FC record and there's a good chance he'll come good soon.

Malcolm Merlyn Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Saha isnt a test class batter not even in Asia againist a minnow. He is 30 and about time we find a better player. CM Gautam may be a good choice.
HippoSucks Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Saha isnt a test class batter not even in Asia againist a minnow. He is 30 and about time we find a better player. CM Gautam may be a good choice. And we come to this conclusion by 2 matches that he has played in Asia, only one of which is against a minnow, namely Bangladesh, while the other was against South Africa in India? As usual people are overreacting. You have to give someone a chance before getting rid of them. Same case with Rohit in tests, without giving them a decent run in test matches people are jumping to conclusions.
CG Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Dk is a talented batsman but temparament lets him down.Samson is too young.Saha is good keeper and his fc stats show he can bat .At international level he has to be given a fair run before he can be judjed.
Bigg Brother Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 what about ankush bains? :peter: Too too early.. CSk should have played him atleast one match this season. He is aggressive.Played good innings against Pakistan in U-19 wc. But what is his domestic record??Does he open even in Ranji??
express bowling Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Saha has kept very well in this test match. Some excellent stumping and collections down the leg side.
Forever Indian Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 If Pappu Patel's keeping has improved then I would play him. He is currently playing as an opener for Gujarat in tests, so if he comes in at no.6 or 7 he will be well suited to face the second new ball. He is a good player of fast bowling and plays the short ball decently, so will be ideal overseas. But the big question is, has his keeping improved?
