sourab10forever Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 The best keeper India has does not seem to be anything more than a average batsmen in tests.India need a quick replacement for saha before the important tests Begin. Also since Dhoni is on the verge of retiring form ODIs too, this guy has to be a good limited overs batsmen so that he can carry on into the ODI arena.Naman ohja ,Parthiv Patel and Samson are the young options available.
BeautifulGame Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Parthiv Patel ??? Seriously lol Gautham is the best option. But Saha deserves a decent run of games .Should be given till SA series at least as long as his keeping is good
game_changerr Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 terrible batsman....dont know why he is rated
yoda Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Samson is definitely the best of the lot in terms of batting. Not sure if Samson can be considered a keeper cause he has been ordinary from what I have seen.
sensible-indian Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 If Saha flops as batsman, we are in for some world of pain for the short term. Issue with Dhoni the test bat was that he was Dhoni the test captain who became stale but couldn't be without captaincy.
sensible-indian Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 But still...got to take chances with him and give everyone a fair run.
Bigg Brother Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 He couldn't read googly.. He will have to bat well as Kohli will always go for 5 bowlers. You cannot guarantee your place only on the basis of your keeping. Isn't KL Rahul a keeper?

Lannister Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Rahul need to opt for wicket keeping, there's no other choice. The way Saha got out to Nathan Lyon in that first match, I knew his worth.
urbestfriend Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 No..Saha deserves more chance..He is a good enough bat, but needs some time.
Shivaji bhonsle Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 He is 31. Gotta look for someone younger for future.
vvvslaxman Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 I never rated Saha as a batsman. An average batsman. But a decent keeper. Parthiv though is good for 30/40 runs on any surface against any bowling , his keeping is horrible enough not to be considered. DK has bipolar disorder in terms of performance. Oscillates between good to mediocrity with mostly on the mediocre side. Gautam is also slightly older. Here is the list of keepers we have in domestic currently http://stats.espncricinfo.com/indian-domestic-2014-15/engine/records/keeping/most_dismissals_career.html?class=4;host=6;id=2014%2F15;type=season Bharat Andra wicket keeper leads with 46 dismissals this season, He is averaging 47 (mostly because of his 308 in 311 balls against Goa) with 2 centuries. He is only 21. Not sure how good he is. He is an opener too.
div Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Saha is the best keeper available in India,so deserves more chances.
express bowling Posted June 12, 2015 Posted June 12, 2015 Saha deserves a longer run. If a replacement is needed after that then the best batsman+ keeper is Naman Ojha.
tweaker Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Saha does not look capable bat,Naman Ojha should be selected for Zimbabwe series.
Gollum Posted June 13, 2015 Posted June 13, 2015 Have some patience guys. Remember how Rahane played in the Delhi test or how Kohli played in his 1st few matches against WI. Also Vijay was a flop when he first came in. I am not saying he is anywhere as good as them but he needs to be given some time. I will take a 25-30 avg batsman with outstanding keeping technique to someone who scores @ 75 and misses 5 chances every innings !!!

A rubbish keeper could lose you winnable matches and change the course of a series. Though someone who averages 30-35 as keeper would be more desirable. 25 is too low bro.

Remember Dhoni was an exception, a very under rated test batsman. Will be lucky if we get a replacement as good as him, he was the ultimate luxury for us coming at no 7 all these years. Throughout our cricketing history we never really had awesome WK bats so I don't have high expectations.
