sensible-indian Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 what i dont understand is that kohli, raina, rohit, rahane are known hardworkers in the nets and they keep batting for hours together.. what the **** do umesh, shami, ishanth, bhuvi do during this time??? I too wonder about this. Why can't they practice enough and bowl in the right areas? If they still get carted, no complaints. Then its either the pitch or they are not good enough. But these pacers spray it all over and leave us in perennial hope that one fine day they will become good.
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 its not too late, umesh yadav can show the middle finger to the IPL and go play county cricket next year onwards. he still has 6-7 years cricket left in him. its not like he is setting the IPL on fire like malinga either. no one will miss him. he is not earning millions either. if he chooses that small fish - IPL purse, he will miss out the big fish - that is the place in Indian team.
sensible-indian Posted June 24, 2015 Author Posted June 24, 2015 Unless we don't change the KPIs to judge pace bowlers (and attacking leg spinners), along with having the right strategy on field to get the best out of them, Ind's bowling will not improve We judge openers differently from middle order batsmen, who are judged differently from lower-order ones. Similarly, we need to have relevant (and at times different) KPIs for a quick bowler, trundler, leg-spinner, SLA spinner, off-spinner, etc. You are right but what do you do when our pacers keep spraying it all over?
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 btw some dhoni comedy anyone else noticed how he completely derailed any criticism from mohit and jadeja and completely blamed the "fast" umesh for the series loss :hysterical: mohit and jadeja "bowled to their strengths" but umesh was fast and blundering (true actually) so we lost series lol
div Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 i normally hate sanju manju like everyone else... but he made a point sometime back. i dont know how true is the fact of the point... he said that yadav and aaron are far from being the top-5 pace bowlers in the country based on success rate in the first class arena. it seems they were picked solely on the speed aspect. i think the fact that they were picked on the speed aspect gave a sense of entitlement to umesh yadav. with the IPL security completely removing any more hunger for success. just saying.. But Manju is a big Dhoni fan..many wicket keepers in India have better first class stats than Dhoni..it clearly shows that all these Sanjus and Manjus are just fair weather fans.
G_B_ Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Umesh comes across as dumb. Not a thinking bowler. I have seen Steyn drop down to less than 80mph in spells to exract swing
maniac Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Ipl should have been a great experience for any bowler be it spinner or fast bowler....high stakes match, your career income depends on it and the batsman/hacks trying to hit out every ball. But then again jadeja and Saha look like beastly hitters in ipl while as they cannot get the ball out of the square in internationals

If you go by that vinay and Pankaj Singh will lead our attack in every game and jadeja 3 300s will be our test no 4
zen Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 You are right but what do you do when our pacers keep spraying it all over? So the question is why do the pacers keep spraying it all over? Is it because of a) the conditions (which makes them feel there is nothing in the pitch for them) b) the pressure (because they are judged primarily on ER, they have to change their game to bowl like trundlers, which in turn could make them slow down, spray, etc.) c) unpreparedness (that would bring the bowling coach in to picture, the work habits, motivation, etc.) d) wrong KPIs and lack of strategic support by captain on the field For many, it could be a mix of all of the above
maniac Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Also umesh is not fast anymore just a 135k max bowler
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Umesh comes across as dumb. Not a thinking bowler. I have seen Steyn drop down to less than 80mph in spells to exract swing why go till hanuman when comparing with an ordinary monkey? heck even mustafizur has more maturity than umesh ...
Temujin Khaghan Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 If you go by that vinay and Pankaj Singh will lead our attack in every game and jadeja 3 300s will be our test no 4 so infront crocodiles and behind lions in between indiancricketfans... thats what you are implying? :((
div Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 If you go by that vinay and Pankaj Singh will lead our attack in every game and jadeja 3 300s will be our test no 4 :haha: This guy Soumya Sarkar has poor domestic stats.. Quinton De Kock averages only 28-29 in ODD cricket.
maniac Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 so infront crocodiles and behind lions in between indiancricketfans... thats what you are implying? :(( I would rather punt on bowler with raw pace to pick up skills than the other way round....umesh was a good experiment but neither pace nor skills anymore so time to move on. All Hopes on Aaron now
beetle Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 btw some dhoni comedy anyone else noticed how he completely derailed any criticism from mohit and jadeja and completely blamed the "fast" umesh for the series loss :hysterical: mohit and jadeja "bowled to their strengths" but umesh was fast and blundering (true actually) so we lost series lol .:secret:
MCcricket Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 The writing is on the board for a longtime,We for odi format need a good left armers, Suyal n AChoudhury, B Sran can fit in the role , our selectors have no vision how to build a team n plan.I for one think we need a new cap for sure, Dhoni was worse in test n now bad in odi until he leaves players outside CSK won't get a fair chance n he is jaded n just knows to captn play one way. We need to take advantage of talent like most successful teams are doing NZ, Australia n now Poms is give a chance to talented new players who are hungry n waiting to prove K Yadav ,D Hooda, Pandya,R Sharma had potential n is a better bet the Jadeja.K KJadhav, Saha, Pandey n gen next players need to be introduced in the team. For the India A team groom these guys who are younger to cricket amongst them n also U19 guys like Avesh Khan, C Milind, Sarfaraz M Singh, M Sayysd ,,Vihari need to be in the squad , Bcci n selectors lack vision n never r pro active so we never get a good bench plus our team cannot be world beaters
rkt.india Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 To be honest, Yadav bowled superbly in World Cup where conditions suited him. He was one of the leading wicket takers in the tournament there, his strike rate and economy were excellent as well. It would be harsh to judge his bowling on these patta wickets. They are tailor made for batsmen and for spinners and medium pacers and that too for those who rely on being defensive by stopping runs. Agree but there is no excuse for bowling in bad areas.
rkt.india Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Also umesh is not fast anymore just a 135k max bowler what are you talking about? He was hitting 145 plus in Ist game. He slows down to try to bowl accurately but that is where he is wrong. People think if you slow down, you will be more accurate. That is not the case. Accuracy depends on your rhythm and how you are completing your bowling action. It comes with practice. Dont think our bowlers practice enough in the nets.
adi B Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Also umesh is not fast anymore just a 135k max bowler Whatchutalking man!!In both yhe games his avg speed was 141 k in the opening spell,in the world cup it was 143-147 k ,though I do agree that he has sacrificed 2-4 k of his pace to bowl with Better accuracy
MK55 Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 In the test match, his average was 145k. Bowls freely in ipl as well. Even last year against Sri lanka he was bowling well under Kohli. Maybe we should hire a proper bowling coach who understands and had been there before. Entrusting idiots like MS to build an attack will be a big mistake
