Yesterday commies were talking about the fact that with just 1 ball....the team bowing second would have a nightmare when there is dew. I never thought of that aspect but it seems like a valid argument. I too don't like 2 new balls but maybe there is a strong argument for it which was dicussed in ICC meetings.

Control comes with practice and refining the technical aspects of your action and runup. Dhoni's is job as captain is to make sure that they have enough methodical practice in the nets.

Forever Indian Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 IMO Umesh is very much a rhythm bowler and will always struggle for consistency in ODIs. That's why he usually starts off badly when not in rhythm and then comes back to bowl well in 2nd or 3rd spell. In tests he can get away with a few overs to find rhythm but in LOIs especially in today's world there is no leeway. That's why I feel Umesh should be a test only bowler and be part of only the test team and I think that will benefit him immensely. Varun Aaron can be tried in ODIs as he has a very good List A record and usually has done well in ODIs. Again he may be expensive but if he gets wickets then should be persisted with.

Disagree, Dhoni should be out of the team, he is washed out n now frustrated n has blamed his team mates too often except CSKmates, when they perform badly there is an excuse he is back after a break or socket was not c!conducive, did he sees Mohits bowling figures n saw how many catches were dropped of Umesh n his shoddy field placings

zen Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 Ganguly was one of the captains who knew how to handle pace bowlers. Some of the best spells by Indian fast bowlers have come under his captaincy. Srinath was treated like a super star (IMO he was probably the most valuable player considering Ind does not produce that many quality quick bowlers) Fast bowlers and attacking leg-spinners require both motivational and strategic support from the captain and team management IIRC, Sehwag captained one of the tests against BD and he brought in pace bowlers and leg-spinner (Mishra). All of them did well with Ind winning the test if I am not wrong. In the next game, Dhoni came back and the leg-spinner was probably gone, the bowling effort by the replacement spinners was boring, etc. PS the scorecards of that series Sehwag ^ 3 pacers + 1 leg spinner Dhoni ^ 2 + 2 combination (neither here nor there) .... Leg spinner is gone despite picking up 7 wkts in the earlier game .... Ind was helped by Zak's super performance. The two spinners (Bhajji and Ojha) could only pick a combined 6 wkts in the game

All work done by G.anguly , Dra?for, Tendulkar has been destroyed n he just says is a process, shameless , unaccountable hack, did u seem him criticize his CSK buddies?

There should be zero external influence as it takes away your individuality, originality. A bowler should know more than anyone else (including captain) about how to prize out a wicket, how to set up a batsman. If captain has a suggestion he should bring it up not shove down the throat of bowler.
