rkt.india Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Neither did Yadav' date=' but he also finds a place in the team....... But but but, he is FASSSSSHHHHHTTTTTTT, so not getting wickets is okay.[/quote'] What comparison on a typical turning Chennai pitch where an opposition spinner picks a 6-fer and our best spinner does zilch against batsmen who have never faced these conditions before at home and you are comparing him to a fast bowler who is bowling in conditions which don't suit him against a team whose batsmen are born and brought up playing fast bowlers.
rkt.india Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I just dont get what purpose we are serving by playing Mishra and Ojja. There is nothing we already dont know about them. Rather than trying likes of Shreyas Gopal, Malolan Rangrajan, Rassol, we are going backwards. How are we going to develop bench strength if we keep rotating same players in a cycle. We already know what Mishra and Ojha has to offer. Where is Rassol who got 7-fer last time he played against an Australian team?
vishalvirsingh Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Mishra is good enough. All leg spinners need support n time. But he is the best leg spinner we have.
jusarrived Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 We should win this easily though . We havent won in SL , so our best chance to set that record straight . This is easily the weakest SL team we would be playing .

Jadeja looks like just a darter so I don't wanna consider him in the running too. Ojha is not being selected purely because his action was under serious scrutiny and till he becomes confident mostly he is kept under wraps. so I believe it is logical to pick up Mishra and harbhajan. critics of bhajan should seriously see him bowling against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh... he got so many catches dropped of his bowling and I believe he could have got more wickets. bhajan is in wicket taking form and that's why he is being picked- he may play in the test ahead of Mishra too( he may play on merit). Mishra is also looking good as he is fetching wickets now against Australia A. I am very confident of the quality of Spin that we posses now - ashwin , bhajji and Mishra. darter patel is a defensive bowler and though he fits the bill for an odi- I may still play Mishra ahead of him in an odi too.... because I am aggressive and it is better to taget getting wickets even in ODI or tests. Still I wanna repeat darter Patel is a fit for ODI and is a better bowler than jadeja as on today.
vishalvirsingh Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 mishra ji has got 3 wickets and has given away very few runs in his overs too- fairly good bowling.
Cricket_Hacker Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Halwai mishra never gets any respect, even garbage spinners like karn sharma are pocked ahead of him
adi B Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 yeah the best spinner could not bye a wicket yesterday against Aussie A. Yeah rkt, talk nah !! :giggle:
rkt.india Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 Yeah rkt' date='talk nah !! :giggle:[/quote'] Picked wickets today, not yesterday. My point was that he had exaggerated Mishra being the best spinner. Also, there is no use playing Mishra and Ojha in an A squad at home. Why cant they select younger spinners? How are we going to build a bench?
gakgupta Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 I love the art of leg spin and it's depressing to see that our best leg spinner is amit mishra With all due respect, he is a decent spinner but not the one who will run thru the batting line-ups I am surprsied that he didn't work on the zip. If he fix that issue, he could be a serious contender as our first spinner. How hard is it to fix it???

I dont think so..he can probably provide occasional breakthroughs and keep it tight from one end if I am right, zip is more about the revs one puts on the ball...doesnt it matter more on hard surfaces than subcontinental tracks?
mishra Posted July 24, 2015 Posted July 24, 2015 So much hate against Mishra when we all know that he is best leggie at the same time English and Aussie batters struggle against leggie. Be it India or overseas. You guys disappoint me :poink:

And what do you expect wickets in SL to be? Seamer's paradise? Stop hiding behind excuses after excuses for the FASSSSSHHHTTT bowlers? What did these fast bowlers do in Australia where conditions were supposed to be ideal? What did they do in England? It is not like Indian fast bowlers have always been useless in home conditions. Just look at Javagal Srinath's record at home. By the way, you spoke too soon. Mishra got 3 wickets later and broke an important partnership. Leg spinners need consistency in selection, not play one match then dropped the next.

I stand by what I have said. If Mishra is given a decent consistent run in the team, he is still capable of getting results. Eng, Aus, SA, NZ - they all struggle against quality wrist spinners. It is a very difficult art to master. They deserve to be given time. And my assessment about who I feel is the best spinner is my opinion. You can have your own opinion about why FASSHHHHTTTT bowlers must only be picked on how FASSSSHHHTTT they can bowl and not how effective they are. I remember sometime back you were also vehemently opposed to Rahane being in the Test team. After only one Test match, you had labeled him as a hack or something like that. I disagreed then too and we all saw how he performed later on overseas tours.

He debuted a long time back and is an FC veteran.
