What killed his average was that period of time when india was losing left and right. Also keep in mind that unlike our other bowlers he can bowl long periods of time without dropping intensity or losing the plot, and rarely gets injured, so when batting conditioned are good he's the one doing all the donkey work bowling so many overs. Plus India haven't had a part timer that can relieve the pressure in a long time as well. This 5 bowler set up might do wonders for Ishant.

Ishant has improved his consistency from the NZ tour of 2014. 50 wickets from 11 and a half tests at an average of 30 is a level of consistency he has never shown before over a span of 18 months. He just needs to do this match after match.
kosingh Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Joe Dawes, our former bowling coach said to a news paper interview that the spell which Ishant bowled in Perth haunts him. He's got this mental block regarding that spell being his bowling perfection and he cannot repeat it again. I remember even Mitchell Johnson had the same problem during his worst form (2009-2012), until he took a break from international cricket and trained under a retired army commander to regain his self belief and physical strength. Ishant's problems are more mental which only he can solve it, no amount of practice games or county cricket can. Oddly enough, since Dawes departed, Ishant has looked fantastic
