The thing is if he goes to play county,he is going to make tons of runs and comeback to the same problems...I still think technically he is not far behind Kohli,Pujara or Vijay...it's all in the mind....If he had a little more application the 43 and 32(:(() he made could have easily been converted to a bigger score and his 2nd innings failures would have been forgotten or not picked upon as much. As far as sledging goes....Yeah it was pathetic but so did Kohli sledge as well..bottomline is we meaning indians are just not witty enough(in the English language) to come up with smart sledges period.

You have to be smart and realize that but some people do not. I won't mind if Rohit did what he did if he would have had a good batting average in Australia in this series. But since he had not put many runs on the tour so far, it would have been better for him to just keep quiet and let the bowler do the talking instead of him as a fielder. He did not learn from Steyn's experience. He has done that in the past to Dale Steyn. Now basically he has tried to sledge two of the world's best bowlers - Steyn and Johnson.
