Bali police spokesman Heri Wiyanto, meanwhile, told news agency AFP that the 55-year-old Rajan had been on the run for two decades, with Interpol flagging him as a wanted man back in 1995. “We received information from police in Canberra yesterday (Sunday) about the red notice for a murderer,” he told AFP.

“We arrested the man at the airport yesterday (Sunday). What we know is that this man was suspected to have carried out 15 to 20 murders in India.” Bali police were coordinating with Interpol and Indian authorities, Wiyanto said, adding it was likely Rajan would be deported to India

He is a patriot. We should protect him in India, D has attempted to finish him in S.E Asia a number of times. Rajan will be a big strategic asset in striking back the the underworld. RAW should use this guy to finish Dawood for once and for all.

He was looking after his life and interests when he surrendered. If he was patriotic, he wouldn't have terrorized innocent Mumbaikars for all those years.

But yea, he is a more than useful pawn against Dawood. This 'arrest' is just a transfer of residence for him.

He is a patriot.

But he never halted his criminal activities in India . He admitted on live tv , to have ordered the murder of Jyotirmoy Dey . He and his hitmen have been accused of extortion from businessmen & builders in Maharashtra and Madhya pradesh.

Should the police & Govt continue to turn a blind eye to his criminal activities ?

Sadly we need him more than he needs us. Must be given Z+ level type security and all comforts. Use him to go after D, Chota Shakeel, etc.

So how many of his murders of innocent Indians should we ignore ?

Jems Baand has decided to take care of his old friend :

Rajan’s arrest has sparked a buzz in security circles because of long-running rumours about his connections to India’s intelligence services, who hoped to use him to target the other most-wanted gangster Dawood Ibrahim.  A leaked US diplomatic cable of 2005 directly linked former Intelligence Bureau chief and current National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval to Vicky Malhotra, “the right hand man” of Rajan.

Dated August 5, 2008, the cable stated: “On July 11 the Mumbai police arrested Malhotra while he was driving through central Delhi.
Accompanying Malhotra was Ajit Kumar Doval… Doval was allowed to go free, whereas Malhotra and two associates who were picked up later were taken to Mumbai where they now face criminal charges.”

And in 2005 , it was a call from the PMO that secured Jems Baand's release from Delhi Police's custody ."Patriotic" Rajan's "patriotic" muderers were accused of murder , kidnapping and extortion .

Rajan got in touch with Indian authorities 5 months ago and then gave himself up : -

Top intelligence sources told The Indian Express that Rajan had been hiding in Australia for over a year,
and got in touch with Indian authorities four-five months ago.

They added that there were “some discussions” going on between the Indian security establishment and the fugitive before Rajan “gave himself up” to Indonesia police while holding an Indian passport.

There is unlikely to be any justice , for the families of the many Indians he has Murdered. The dead victims may even be slandered by an  eager & pliant MSM for being anti-national.
Those at the Top of the Indian PYRAMID of Interests have never cared for justice OR the Nation .

Amiret who the hell are you to comment about a national treasure like Doval? What have you done for this nation? How dare you judge those who have sacrificed their private lives, families, identities, everything to defend us from our enemies? RAW/Doval/IB are the unsung heroes of India because of which you can get a good night's sleep.Unlike soldiers/police force who at least get awards/media recognition these guys can't afford to draw attention towards themselves. Ever wondered how this nation has not yet plunged into chaos considering the great neighbors we have and the ever growing internal threats? Why are you singing Pakistan's tune on an Indian forum? Only they hate Doval Sir. Some people like you spew so much venom against our security apparatus that would put Pak Army supporters to shame.

Regarding Rajan, he has been in touch with RAW for over 2 decades now. It's no hidden secret. No matter how you guys spin it, the fact remains that he split from the Company after '92. He was a smuggler, not a terrorist and he never wanted to associate himself with those who seek to hurt India. Because of him our intelligence benefited immensely. With the help of RAW he eliminated many high ranking members of D company like Bakhtiyar Ahmed, Mangesh Pawar(both played a huge role in the Bombay blasts). He eliminated Sharadh Shetty which crippled D's finances and dealt a killing blow to his operations. Weren't these services to the nation? He did commit mistakes but more than made up for them over the years, he is a hero, not a terrorist ******* like Yakub Memon whom you defended so vigorously. Of course judging by the kind of person you are you will find some crooked logic to defend your earlier post. So don't bother replying, I am done with the likes of you.

Ab aayega ,mazaa, Owaisi will say give him death penalty while many of Hindutva parties have soft corner for him

What has he done to deserve death penalty? Abu Salem planted bombs in the Bombay blasts in '92 and he didn't get it(though there were some technicalities there). This guy rendered service to the nation numerous times and helped prevent more 26/11s. Also remember that other members of the Memon family were let off, only Yakub got the noose because of the gravity of his crime, something they couldn't disprove after so many years. Also doubt Hindutva parties will root for him. He is as secular as they come. By conservative estimates at least a quarter of his gang are Muslims and another 20% are Christians, something that will turn them off.

And not to forget his role in exterminating that ISI gutter rat Mirza Dilshad Beg in Katmandu. Rajan has always been a soldier of India, finishing off it's enemies and defending it's citizens.

Why did Australian agencies refuse to co-operate with India to nab dawood's lieutenant Chota Shakeel when he went to Australia to murder Rajan 2 months ago ? :hmmm:

Indian agencies were keen to use him (Rajan) as bait to lure Dawood’s lieutenant Chhota Shakeel. The latter walked into the trap only two months ago by flying down to Australia to eliminate his sworn enemy. But he was literally shooed away by Australian security forces who refused to cooperate with Indian agencies. They (the Australian police) were scared that the bloody gang war of the subcontinent would spill over to their land.

Media management over policy management :

FirstPost journalist believes that it was a monumental failure to trap Chhota Shakeel and the current contrived chest-thumping over rajan is the cover-up :

There are reasons to believe that the exultation in India’s security agencies over the arrest of Chhota Rajan is not only misplaced, but also contrived. It is an attempt to cover up their monumental failure to trap Chhota Shakeel and get required assistance from the Australian police in their operation. For the past five years, Chhota Shakeel has been running Dawood’s Indian operations. There have been many instances in which he was found roping in youngsters to the underworld in the name of ‘quam’ — religion.

Not long ago, the Mumbai police and IB sleuths had gone into a tizzy following an interception from Chhota Shakeel that contracted shooters in Mumbai to bump off an important man at a Mumbai address. The address, the agencies found out, belonged to Lalit Modi who had acquired iconic status in the world of cricket. Modi was woken up from his slumber and informed about the threat.

Investigations later discovered the involvement of the underworld in the IPL in a big way.

Perception management going awry:

Much of the contrived exultation on Rajan’s arrest is being seen as the consistent approach of the Indian security agencies to “manage perceptions” and ignore the elephant in the room.....

But what is particularly irksome was the manner in which the Indo-Naga peace accord, signed by India and insurgent Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) Isac-Muivah faction in the presence of the prime minister, was flaunted as one of the biggest achievements in the country’s troubled Northeast.

In fact, the accord, which is still a secret, is believed to have caused a full blown conflict between Home Secretary LC Goel and National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval, and led to the former’s unceremonious exit. Insiders say that the accord was so much wrapped in secrecy that not only Goyal but Home Minister Rajnath Singh was informed about it just before the PM hosted the NSCN leaders in his house. In the home ministry’s perception, the accord still retains all ambiguities of various previous such accords and has no path-breaking feature in it.

Chota Rajan vs the outrage against Yakub Memon's hanging... will be fun to see the p-secs during his sentencing

First of all stop labeling people. If you want to have a decent debate. 10 yer olds do this. Respect other people's right to opinion just as yours. Calling people with labels is lazy and an obvious attempt at not engaging in any decent debate ever

This is a very recent trend some youth and by labeling people, they ensure they brand everyone who has a contrary opinion as one and then avoid replying to any points. And this goes both ways, even for the ones who label people as hindutva, modi bhakts, aaptards, etc
