Hardik or pure bowler in subcontinent?

Aaron played just 4-5 ODIs since his come back 2 years ago when he was just making his come back into the team. You cannot discard or judge a bowler with genuine pace based on that.

Regarding Pandya, T20 is the toughest format for a young fast bowler to  make his debut in who is raw and inexperienced. He has the ingredients to be a decent bowler.

Tbh, I am excited about Pandya. I have a feeling if he is given more opportunities, he will do something great for the team.

Add to that his big hitting ability lower down the order.

Yuvi and Raina combined can be used as the 3rd spinner in T20Is.

The SL series is Pandya and Yuvi's best chance to prove that they deserve a place in the side. More so for Pandya.

T20 games can be brutal for new guys batting lower down the order. Not getting a chance to bat...even if they do, it maybe for a few deliveries only.

Pandya is a batting all-rounder and I would not judge him based on just his bowling.

It is a gamble that Dhoni will have to take to ensure that everybody gets a decent chance to show their skills. Maybe Raina at 3 and Pandya at 4 is a good idea.

While there is no denying the potential that Pandya has,it doesnt look like he will be needed with the bat,more so in the subcontinent.In this case would it be better to play a spinner(Mishra/Kuldeep) or a pacer(Shami) in his place?

I would play shammi or umesh ( if he is fit ) ahead of pandya on indian tracks in a t20.

I have played t20's...bowlers bowl defensively so actually they don't wish to take wickets and normally openers make hay and manage to play out first 8 to 10 overs.. we have dhawan and rohit who are too good on indian tracks..followed by kohli then raina  Pandye or rahana followed by dhoni  n then later jadeja and bowlers...no chance for a pandya to get too bat.. if he gets to bat it could be 2 balls or 3 balls and when it is 2 or 3 balls it is more of just a swing ..some times u miss and some times u connect.

pandya should be played in ODI as a regular.

They were just as crappy as well. Our own frontline bowlers did marginally better. Besides, his ER should have been even higher... was lucky to get away with "just" an ER of around 12.

But it wasnt higher, it is not luck. Nothing comes just with luck. Also, T20 is the toughest format to debut for a rookie whether a batsman or a bowler. I would have liked him to debut in ODIs. One day is the easier format for a debutante.

There may be a day when a bowler does well, but there are decisions that go against him, dropped catches, etc. Other times, they may bowl poorly and still get wickets because the batsmen threw away their wickets - a classic example of the latter category (which I remember discussing with you) was Shami's 5-fer in one of the tests in Oz under Kohli.

Yes, Shami got lucky. but ER of 12 does not put him in Lucky bracket. He bowled well and intelligently at times to avid going for more runs, slower balls, yorkers and balls wide outside off stump.

It could also be partly due to Dhobi asking him to bowl to a specific plan (the lines he bowled, etc) - I have a feeling he may do better with a more aggressive and supportive captain (esp in ODIs).

I dont think is good enough to keep him in the team. This was exactly the sort of situation he needs to step up in. Too early to judge but I see technical issues on the horizon with the bat.

Having said that, i dont want to judge too much. the entire batting line up barring ash failed. Other supposed allrounder Jadeja did not cover himself in glory. But Sir's bowling is a lot better than Pandya.

see technical issue wnt harm him much at 7 , at tht position ur going to mostly bat to hit shots n that ability he has.

In odi technique is a bit over rated, its how u make runs. Pandya will learn with time.

Dhoni has got a pretty ugly technique but still he knws how to make runs.

We have to keep patience with him, He is the best option at 7 or else binny, rishi, jadeja, axar. The guy has just 1-2 season of domestic so he lacks exp but we need him and we need to invest in him. Guys like yuvraj dhawan n raina look like hacks on such pitch forget a newcomer.

N as far as his bowling goes again that lack of exp, Sir has played int cricket for 6-7 yrs now n add domestic , Rishi n binny also had a lot of bowling behind them in domestic. 

We really need a guy like him to come gud.
