May be the advice should have been...bowl with a leg slip always or stand 10 yards behind than normal even on a slowest of surfaces or if nothing works bowl short even if the batsmen are comfortably smacking it...or even better stop the odd boundary by giving easy singles

McGrath practice with a coin is already legendary......Forget Wasim or Waqar,take someone like Malinga who is 2 notches below,can nail the perfect yorker 9/10 times because of constant practice.

 

Sreeshanth had one of the best seam positions ever for a fast bowler but he was all over the place.....Umesh has a good outswinger which explains his drifting down the leg side because he just cannot pitch the ball in the right area....Ishant can swing the ball in and extract awkward bounce but he is constantly short and wide......the inherent skills are there but why can't these mofos practice their stock ball and develop some patience

 

 

thats wat separates great players from ordinary players. Virat kohli their captain is the guy who comes 1st in net n goes last so they a prime example in dressing room as to how to do it.

Its annoying with ishant, umesh , aaron how they dont work hard enough. They all have spend time with great bowlers in ipl also so yea no one can teach them unless they are ready to push them. Example are there infront of them.

 

I always wonder why Pujara when he had all the time in the world didnt go to county. Even Ishant n aaron who spend all the time on bench in ipl Cnt ask their teams to release them for 1 season of county. Instead i remember ishant one said he has no plans to play county cricket. 

I have advocated Umesh a lot but deep down inside i know he wont go long way, it just that we dont have bowlers with better skills then him. 

 

Sree had aggression but the guy was an idiot of highest order, his attention seeking habits were annoying. Ill add Rp singh who could have been a great bowler but again lazy as shit didnt work hard got fat. Irfan pathan if fit n inform could have been the biggest asset to Indian side again lived in la la Land.

The thing is work ethics, I remember a scene from mahabharat, jaydrath asks drona, will you save me please, he says I will try,but arjuna is arjuna, I will not be able to save you; he shouts we both are ur students, but why he is best to which drona replies, he didn't sit ideal at home after learning, he practiced, he wanted to learn new things, he doesn't wanted to rely just on my education, he wanted to learn and learn,that's what separate, great from good.

What's funny is that Ishant and Umesh are, by all accounts, really hard workers. Ishant is apparently one of the hardest workers in the team. Some of the Aussie and Windies commentators like Ian Bishop noted how they saw how hard Yadav works, particularly spending long time running. The effort is there. They appear to practice hard but maybe don't have proper guidance.  

 

The fact that the BCCI hasn't hired a bowling coach already, shows how unprofessional they are. They need to open up their wallets and get a good bowling coach, preferably one that played international cricket for a long time, at a high level. I feel like we always hire ex-cricketers like Joe Dawes, who could never break into the Aussie international team and have little knowledge of foreign conditions. How can Dawes coach someone like Ishant, when he has bowled in more differing conditions than his supposed coach.

Pujara did play county cricket last year. Aaron also played county cricket last year.

I knw but few games. Im talking about this yr. Last yr he could only play 4-5 games that to was mid season. Here he could have gone in early part of the season n played when weather would have been really cold and pitches would have been fresh at start of season. 

 

With Ishant n Aaron i meant they could ask their franchise to free them for one season. Aaron also played only very few games last season. Thts not of much use. Hear wasim in many of his interview that he suggest atleast one full season of county if not two

they could only play county cricket if there is break, but this year they had no break. BCCI do not issue NOC in such a scenario. We had WI tour and A tour to Aus. Last year, we did not have anything after IPL, so, these players played county. They do not need to ask franchises to release them because IPL is over by early June. County cricket only starts in May and they can still play 4 months of county cricket from June onward but problem is India and India A schedule and NOC. BCCI only issues NOC if calendar is completely empty in this period, especially, to players who are in contention for selection.

With reverse swing on offer Yadav should've asked to bowl 2 lengths, yorker or bouncer. he gets 3 off those 6 right per over, we create a chance. Instead he was out there bowling good length deliveries to batsmen who were quite happy to leave the ball. 

 

Not saying we would've picked up wickets but we didn't try the right things on this pitch.

One feature about the bouncer or  the short rising delivery is that ....it is a high delivery and, if played ,  will be in the air for some time no matter how well played.  If lots of well directed bouncers and short rising deliveries are bowled around the wicket, with a short leg, leg slip, deep-fine leg, deep-square leg etc. it is always possible that one or two shots maybe miscued even on an easy paced pitch, especially if mixed with fast reverse swinging yorkers.

 

When the pitch is not doing anything then I  really don't understand why this combination strategy is not tried more often.
