Indian batting strategy in 2nd inning

I think batsmen should take some deliveries to get set and then play their normal cricket. Put away the bad balls and  rotate the strike whenever possible. No need to take unnecessary risks in the first 20 overs.   But no need to get bogged down either.

After a lead of 230+, if wickets are still  in hand..then they should look to accelerate.

Yep. Lead already 170 or so.  Another 50-60 for no loss and then attack, captain zattack!  Props to those who know the movie reference without googling:isalute:

Windies did well to restrict India in the last session.  Would have wanted 30-40 more runs here, but the wickets prevented that.  Now we'll probably bat 10 overs tomorrow and add another 40 odd.  I still think we are winning this.

This will be a Draw. The only one who can change match in a session is Virender Sehwag and he is retired.  Rohit cannot change it even in 2 sessions.

how many times Sehwag did it in 3rd 4th innings. I only remember once.

Missing Viru here.

People overrate Sehwag a lot. He was mostly first innings batsman. He has a pathetic record in 3rd and 4th innings.

Sehwag has 1 fifty in 2nd inning of away matches we won and total 6 50+ scores in away matches overall. Hardly any game changing inning

Anyway India did well to get to 285. We will be lucky to get full quota of 98 overs. India should look to bat for half an hour max and try to score 50 runs then declare.

but he has built a perception. He might not have done any such game changing thing but people will still talk about only Viru could have played that game changing inning.

That's because commies consistently hyped that part. Whenever he was on crease in 2nd inning they could only about his ability to change game in a session.

Other batsmen might have played at similar SR in 2nd inning while setting a target more often than Sehwag.

yes, It is all about reputation. People will never talk same about batsman like Pujara even if he has , playing innings like he did in Delhi test against Aus where other batsmen struggled to face Lyon, he scored 52 of 76 in Ist innings and the 2nd innings was even better 82 of 92.
