Rohit, Kohli reckoned, had the potential to influence the game with his aggression; the often-used phrase is "he can change a Test in a session". So, in St Lucia, it was not only Pujara who had to sit out. Also missing was regular opener M Vijay, who was fit after a hand injury had kept him out of the second Test. The team management retained KL Rahul, Vijay's replacement in Kingston, to open with Shikhar Dhawan. The incriminating statistic that possibly explains the common fate of Pujara and Vijay is their strike rates - Pujara's strike rate since his comeback is 43.51 [48.2 overall] and Vijay's career strike rate of 46.88.

• "Rohit is dangerous at No.5"-  So was he said to be at NO.3 last yr 
• he can change a Test in a session" -   for that he has to bat a session, neither he is quick starter as he takes is own time even in ODi n t20. After that also he can throw his wkt. 

 

Why not include Yusuf pathan in that case to.  The guy has a 100 in Sa many of our top batsman wnt have that and he can bowl some off spin as well. 

 

I like the idea for taking the game in ur hands and playing aggresive. AUS, WI the gr8 teams did that but they had all round players. If u players like Hayden , sehwag, viv richards, ABDV talk about the idea. Dhawan n rohit are the wrong resources for even being called as test batsman forget about playing fast or slow.

So it effectively means certain end of career of Pujara ,& probably for Vijay.

If Dhawan & Rohit scores some runs in the 4 th test,they will be certain to play the long home season.

If India wins the 3rd test with Rohit,Dhawan & Ishant than that is more important than some individuals ie Pujara,Vijay so we have to back Kohli's decision if we are on a winning spree

Rohit experiment will fail more number of times than succeed. 

 

He will be like virender sehwag who failed thrice and succeeded once but when he succeeded in tests he used to win the game single handedly.

 

Rohit may also hit once and miss 3 times.

May be virat wants that.

Watch this innings, opp bowlers, grass on the pitch, match situation and it was hi debut

 

And now go n see how Rohit played in Sa. 

Temperamentally finding people like sehwag is extremely difficult, the kind of mindset he had is something of rare. 

Technically also just look at his head position and body balance which is very important when ur a hand-eye co-ordination player

 

And do u think he would have had the highest no of MOS and avg around 50 with being a player who clicked once.  His avg was affected due to his last yr otherwise he was up n above 50

I also feel Kohli is not a natural number 3 in tests. He will be exposed a bit too early to new ball swing. Rahane at 3 makes a lot more sense. 

 

Infact che or not, I would like to see Rahane at 3.

Kohli's "obession" with Sharma is going to turn out to be the noose that will hang him in the end.

 

Staking your reputation on a soon to be a 30 year old who has repeatedly under performed at test level is the kind of madness that belongs in an asylum.

 

Project Yuvraj - failed

Project Raina - failed

Project Sharma - likely to fail

Rahane is India's best middle order bat and belongs at #4.

And the comical thing is Rahane's srike rate in test cricket is actually higher than Rohit.
