Mukund vs Shikhar

For me Mukund >>>> Shikar

How well he left the ball....some of them imperiously close to the off-stump and but left them with so much audacity.

He is absolutely sure about his strengths

Plays spin and fast bowling equally well

Pulling the ball decently okie.

Being Left handed batsmen has always have an advantage

Mukund has improved a lot and deserves a chance. He was playing so correctly and yet so quickly with strokes all round the wicket.

He was the only batsman to put up a fight in the first innings for his team and players who can play with their team in trouble are assets to their teams.

Also, he was handling bounce quite well.

Right now it would be btw him n Faiz Fazal, dhawan is not going anywhere for next 2 yrs.

Also it shouldnt be about finding a leftie only, finding a good opener is more imp. be it righty or leftie

As of now Rahul n Vijay are doing gr8, dhawan should be a backup. Dhawan hasnt done that bad to be thrown out.

Both Faiz n Mukund should make of all the opp they get till the time those guys are around.

why just opening? We also need a good batsman at 6. He can play there too. Rohit is hopeless.

Mukund is playing very quickly, with strokes all round the wicket. Showed the ability to play with the tail too. Has a much better leaving technique than Rohit and a good defense too. Can definitely be a good no.6  if there are no spots as an opener.

but dont thinkg our selectors and management has that flexible thinking. They are adamant to let Rohit fail match after match.

26 so has 4 more years to break in and have a 3-4 year stint at the top, i think he will probably replace Vijay if he does well.

Even when he played for India in Tests, Mukund showed promise. I think he may have improved.

Will be good to get him as backup batsman in Test squad and he can be used in place of Dhawan or Nothit sharma or even as backup if Pujara form dips. Anyway Shikhar Dhawan and Nothit dont belong to Test team.

If  I  remember correctly, when Mukund played for  India in a test series 5 years back, his bat turned towards the leg-side when he tried to play straight or on the off-side. He did not have that many strokes either.

He is a completely transformed batsman now ...playing with a straight bat, leaving balls excellently, playing strokes all around the wicket, using the upper cut excellently to deal with bouncers and playing pace and bounce well.  He is looking much more fluent and confident. Now is the ideal time to give him a chance at whatever position possible.

I remember in a match he opened with Murali Vijay I think in WI. Both failed in their first stint when they were less experienced. We know how Murali Vijay has come back and we can hope for the same from Mukund. They both made a 400+ opening partnership as well for TN I think!

Mukund fought it out with wickets falling all around him in the first innings...and that is a plus for me.   I want competitive cricketers to represent my country.

Even Saurav  Tiwary looked good against the pace of Nathu Singh when everyone else struggled.  He took responsibility and batted with the tail to take his team to a decent position. I will keep an eye on him and hope the selectors do too.

Saurabh Tiwary is a good batsman at FC level. He is probably the highest averaging batsman ever form Jharkhand. He might not be very elegant but he has been effective. People call him a hack just because he isn't really good in T20s.

We need effective batsmen who can play pace and take responsibility.  He should be in the selectors' radar.

He had the problem with the incoming delivery....hence got bowled to broad and Anderson

But he showed lot of promise and fought it out...

He deserves an other go

Why should he replace Vijay? He should replace Dhawan in Tests.

M.Vijay and A.Mukund have opened the innings many times in domestics as partners, and they have good understanding in running between wickets and playing the partnership innings.

To me Mukund is anther wasted talent given the short stick by the selectors and a victim of the playing favorites plicy.

He has scored bucket loads of runs and is the ideal opener for India.

Mukund

Vijay

KL Rahul

Kohli

Rahane

Ashwin

Saha

4 bowlers

Looks a solid top 5.

Ashwin at 6 worked against WI.. Have to wait and see if it works in tougher conditions in SA and Eng.. We might want to play Pujara at 3 then, and move KL Rahul to 6
