We should've whitewashed the KIWIS in this series even though we were not full strength. After the series

line up should change and will once it's full strength.

First XI:-

Rohit

Dhawan (Far better than Rahane in the LOIs with an avg of almost 44)

Kohli

Dhoni (Not convinced with him after seeing him through out this series..has lost the mojo but he's the captain so....)

KL Rahul

Kedar (Edged past Pandey after this series)

Hardik

Jadeja

Ashwin

Shami

Bumrah

Reserves:- Rahane,Pandey,Mishra(outbowled axar),Umesh.

This is my squad of 15. Rahane is there as a back up opener as CT is in England. We can use him if he's

required at the top.

Back ups if any injury occurs:- Mandeep,Raina(was there in the squad of 15),Axar,BK(miles better than

Kulkarni).

Others may or may not agree but I think with only one series to go before CT17 in England no drastic changes

will occur in the squad.New upcoming talents will have to wait till then as I don't see any realistic chance of

a new player coming in before that.

If we are talking for the CT then Axar will be favoured over Hardik. He is more consistent at providing 10 overs and batting is coming along nicely

Also Raina should be preferred ahead of Rahane with Rahul filling in the opener slot if required.

It would depend on the conditions. I think Hardik would be favored over Axar if we already have Jadeja in the team.

after this series, feel still many positions up for grabs,

one opening slot, no. 5 and 6, mishra is only good if opposition is under pressure

Hardik's batting still yet to convince at international level.

In this series, from the "B" side, I feel only Axar and to an extent Kedar impressed.

Firstly In england Bhuvi is must in playing X1 and so is Mishra.
But plaing both will upset the balance, So Bhuvi in place of jadega
And raina in place of jadhav.
Raina at no 6 in odi .At the fag end of the innings Short ball dosnt matter

CT will be played in June and we might not see same dry pitches this time around. We might need four seamers.

Yes but we might not get same conditions again. That year due to Ashes, pitches were kept drier than usual.

Yes I feel Pandey and Hardick will be better suited to England

to be honest even Rahane who likes the ball coming on may be a better bet in England. Rahane did do well in the bilateral series in England in 2013.

We must ultimately go for a team that is modern in its approach to ODIs.  This team has many stars but our approach to LOIs is more suitable for the  2010-2013   period.  We must start introducing new-age players.

That would mean having atleast one opener who can start hitting from ball one.

That would also mean having atleast 2 batters with SR of 105 to 125, batting between No. 5 and No.8....the other 2 should have SR of around 100 too. These finishers should have the ability to start hitting  early in their innings.

Play as many all-rounders as possible.   Rohit and  Pandey should practice bowling too and give the captain more bowling options.

We must have as many good fielders as possible.

I am stating my desired  team for the World Cup 2019.  Some of the players I have named are more indicative of the type of players I  want rather than exactly those players, as they are new and we don't really know how they will pan out.

1. Rohit

2. Rahul   ( can hit from ball 1, can play long innings and is a test quality opener with ability to tackle pace and bounce )

3. Kohli

4. Dhoni  ( if captain and retains form )  /  Pandey  ( if Dhoni loses form by 2019 )

5. Pant   ( very high  SR  batsman and WK too )

6. Hooda   ( High  SR power hitter + part time spinner )...anyone else of  a similar description if he fails, like Krunal

7. Pandya  ( High SR power hitter + fast bowler + great fielder )

8. Axar  ( Can hit big and proper spinner ) /  Jadeja  /  Umesh  (  if seamer friendly pitch ..has improved his hitting ability )

9. Ashwin

10. Shami

11. Bumrah

Dhawan

Sarfraz  ( has shown potential as a finisher, great with improvised shots and can play at a high SR )

Krunal  ( big hitter +  spinner )

Umesh / Axar

Nathu  (  ability to bowl accurate, swinging yorkers at pace )

Bhuvi

Chahal   ( for matches in Asia other than the WC )

Dhoni may not play till 2019. Pandey doesn't seem to be a consistent batsman and hence cannot be expected to play till 2019. So ultimately we will have to find a solid consistent batsman at 4.

One major option lacking in your team is a wrist spinner which is a must for getting wickets in middle overs. Mishra and Kuldeep and chahal are front runners.

Also by 2019 we may get few tall hit the deck kind of seam bowlers as well instead of Umesh Yadav as current Ranji season throws up some new bowlers of that kind and we also have nathu, ankit and aniket. Hopefully one may come up.

A left arm seamer is also missing from your team.

It is too early to assess whether Pandey is consistent or  not.  New players need to play 15  or 20 games before they can be assessed properly.

We rarely play ODIs with wrist spinners.  They are more helpful in test matches.  In LOIs,  batting ability,  fielding ability etc. also play a big part in choosing the 2nd spinner, Ashwin being the first one.  No point loading the team with too many specialist spinners as we will be playing the WC  in England.  For matches in Asia, my pick will be Chahal for the  future.

If new good quality fast bowlers come up, we will surely include them. Actually, I  will add Nathu to this team as he is very good at bowling swinging  yorkers at pace.

It is  better not to pick a left arm seamer for the sake of it.  Only if  he deserves a chance.   We will see how Sran shapes up in the build-up to the WC.

This is a good side,  my only concern is WHEN Jadhavs luck runs out with the ball we will not have a 6th bowler and we will be effed. Hardik cant be trusted with 10 overs every match. This is where a healthy Raina would be nice

We are unsure of Raina's fitness and form. Looks very heavy these days.

I think Axar is being considered by the team management as the No.7 batsman + spinner.   Jadeja's SR as a No.7 batsman in ODI and T20s have not been up to the mark.

My suggestions are more of a wishlist as I understand we do not have following options at present.

A low-risk high consistent accumulator no 4.

A skillfull wrist spinner who can go for wickets in the middle overs instead of containing bowlers like axar/jadeja.

A tall hit the deck kind of bowler instead of the short Umesh Yadav.

A left arm seamer instead of 4 right arm seamers.

Chahal looks good but can't replace Axar / Jadeja as  they are playing as all-rounders.  He can play only if Ashwin is rested or we are playing 3 spinners. Same applied to Kuldeep.

Nathu should be the next in line new pacer for LOIs.  I am actually excited at his potential for the shorter format because of his yorkers.  He is taller than Umesh.  I don't see any really tall pacers as  LOI prospects  in the near future  as of today. Avesh Khan has not yet played FC.

I dnt see Axar and jadeja even competing for no 7 slot. Both should only compete for 2nd spinner slot.

With dhoni power skills going dow, yuvraj singh gone, raina becoming fat and lossing the plot i dnt see axar or jadeja at 7. That makes the lower order so week.

As a second spinner jadeja is miles ahead of axar and so does he in fielding. Jadeja has even bowled better than ashwin in overseas many times.

Axar has no place in the team....

Nathu 1st has to work on his no-ball problem, also he also has a habbit of straying down the leg a lot. Both very dangerous in Odi so i would like him to start with test.

I like Rajpoot to be given a shot in Odi before.

Avesh khan would do really well with his line of attack in test, not sure about him in Odi

Right now Sran n rajpoot should be our next line of ODI bowlers

Chahal kuldeep wont be able to replace axar n jadeja but, they can try for 3rd spot and for me kuldeep is a lil ahead due the slight bit of chinamen mystery. Also kuldeeo can score a few.

Jadeja and axar cant be put in same category as jadeja outshines axar as a bowler n fielder.
