Lol.....

widespread usage does not equal proven benefit

e.g. Majority of batsmen past and present have perculiar superstitions with regards to their batting e.g. Sitting in pavilion with or without pads etc. But it still holds true that the positive effects of such behaviours are debatable and unproven.

Imagine if padosis started a thread saying gavaskar, sachin and VVS were only good batsmen because they were Sai baba devotees and acquired extra batting ability through his black magic...this where silly arguments such as yours end up heading...hence my original comments that it's SAD and lacks CREDIBILITY

"Ian botham and Alan lamb" both were involved in a court case against Imran- of course they're not gonna be praiseworthy of him

"Robin Smith, John Reid, Balwinder Sandhu,Mohinder Amarnath,Maninder singh,Ravi Sastri,Aamer sohail, Shahbaz Sherif,Sarfraz Nawaz, Rameez Raja" ....aaa yes, the all time greats, we really are scraping the barrel here aren't we ...why stop there, I'm just surprised you haven't referenced sadam hussein and colonel gadaffi

also Your beloved Rameez raja recently named him in his all time XI, so I'm not sure where your headed with citing Rameez to discredit Imran's career performance

see link if you don't believe me:

Comparing 'batsmen having superstitions' & 'being them devotees of Saibaba'  and their effects with those of ball tampering.... heights of logic...that is what all i can say . Yaa...Rameez picked Imran in his eleven despite writing such an article on PAK ball tampering. This is because Rameez firstly describes clearly 'ball tampering' as some patent material of PAK bowlers and then he justifies 'ball tampering' as a nothing wrong act. That is why he picked Imran in his eleven. Here the core of Rameez's article is the 'intense level of tampering' PAK bowlers had been doing since several decades. Rameez may find it 'ok' but not a lot others who believes in fair play

The second big grouse that I have with ICF is that all these proclamations of greatest ever are supported by random statistical data.

It doesn't capture the more important stuff, like the relevance of an innings. eg: A player could have scored a 170 in a non pressure situation batting first and another could have scored a 40 when 50/6 to lead his team to a win etc.

All time greatness is to be measured with moments of magic on the pitch, not from a printout of averages.

MOS is awarded for most impactful performance through the series. How is that irrelevant ?

By the time he retires, Ashwin might be greater cricketer India produced, if he finishes at 45 ave batting and his bowling is fantastic so he will have unmatched stats as well as match winning performances for India

Law of averages. If the player with average of 40 is actually better overall then he/she will overtake other player some day. If that's not the case then those 40 runs were just fluke.

Um, that is a tall ask. I don't think Ashwin will average 40+ but he will come close to it if pacers don't suck overseas.
