maniac Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) I have been hearing a lot about this so called beauty of test cricket and how opposition should be given a chance. And stuff like draw games or having the opponents be competitive is very exciting to watch. I totally disagree.....I want England team to be smashed absolutely smashed. Which side are you on? fineleg Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 (edited) Not "hearing a lot" @philcric has just been waxing eloquent lol. Most want to see Pommies getting annihilated, much like they are going to roll out conditions to make India's life miserable when we tour there. It is foolish to think that England will offer "sporting pitches/conditions" when we tour them so English public can see "good contested cricket". LOL-o-LOL. England will want to embarrass Indian team when we visit, and bloody 4-Tests in and they (England) still dont have egg on their faces here and we allow debutants to raise their bat after a century. fineleg Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 As it stands the Bombay Test going to England

Brainfade Posted December 8, 2016 Posted December 8, 2016 Easy. They have an inexplicable collapse to 320 all out. We make 520/6 in 7 or 8 sessions. They collapse to 123 all out. Next test: We bat first and make 600/4 in 8 sessions. Ball starts spinning like a top. They collapse to 145 a.o and 117 a.o. End of story. maniac 1

But I'm talking in general. fineleg never shows an ounce of optimism. Always thinks of the worst.

maniac Posted December 9, 2016 Author Posted December 9, 2016 Good to see most of us are on the same page....viper doesn't count so that leaves 1 vote against. Now enough with this neutral pitches jazz....let us at least make a dustbowl or spinning track and make it retro time for England back to 1992....ah sweet memories, year of my first crush Rasgulla 1
BeautifulGame Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 I wanted at least a couple of innings wins and humiliating rout . But now if England dont lost the Mumbai test (worst case if they win) and with Chennai unlikely to have a result , they will leave with a credible result .Really irritating that . But the real blame for our lack of domination lies solely with our batsmen than the pitches though . Apart from Kohli and Pujara no one seems to have the hunger sadly.
sandeep Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 Why only 2 extreme choices? How about having a hard fought series where the opponent doesn't just fall over? How about our team earns each and every win against a run of losing toss, bad luck and a gritty hard working opposition? At the start of the series, I had expressed a desire for a 4-0 win, with the last one coming while resting some regulars and blooding a few new faces. We are still on with a chance for 4-0 as of now. We have found a capable spinner in Jayant Yadav. Pappu Patel has shown what he can do with the bat in Saha's absence, and Nair may yet come to the party. Think about it. Our batting is nowhere near clicking on all cylinders and we have almost clinched the series already. They are due. And if they get it done here, it will be even more satisfying after England won the toss.

Entertaining for a neutral viewer sure I am still on the edge of my seat and as a fan having a clear favorite, I am nervous the chennai test technically was one of the atg classic test matches but I refuse to watch the highlights ever because it hurts.screw beauty of test cricket in games like that.
