After two tough days in the field, where India had to bowl 157.2 overs to get through Englands batting line-up while conceding 477 runs, seamer Umesh Yadav came out for a chat with the Indian media and explained the difficulties of bowling on this pitch. 

The Indian speedster accepted that it wasn’t easy for the bowlers, “It is very difficult to bowl on this track because the ball is not turning that much. It is unlike a typical Chennai wicket. England got some quick runs, but the ball is not turning that much. That is the problem, we cant get wickets and the momentum,” he said.

His fastest ball was 148 k and not 160 k...where is it coming from  ?

No way has Umesh bowled 160K. Max pace that he bowled was 148K. This was probably a glitch.

So, if I'm reading that right, the team didn't plan to use the pacers much on Friday, and Ishant/Umesh had to talk to Kohli/Kumble to suggest the plan of bowling short to Moeen? Why didn't they already know that Moeen is trash against short deliveries, especially since Ishant was such a monster with his short bowling during the first 2 tests in England.

 

If a player is already on 100+ before the team changes strategy, that speaks to poor planning, no?
