Laaloo Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Now he rules him out of England series which is 6 months away!!! Say what?
BeautifulGame Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 He clearly doesn't want to play tests anymore ,whatever the reason that may be injuries/IPL/family/quota/focusing on Odis . Seems like he doesn't want to announce that now as may receive unnecessary criticism just after quiting captaincy as well Can see him announcing retirement close to the India series .
Vilander Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Unfortunate...he is such a phenomenal player. Loss for test cricket, but yeah atleast we get to see him in LOI's and IPL
sandeep Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 While this decision is clearly to extend his career - ABDV's earlier choices in the past have repeatedly demonstrated that he is a I, before team, player. Great batting genius, bit of an underperformer in pressure situations, and extremely poor captain. mancalledsting 1
Sajid_Rana Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Thank you BCCI for destroying test cricket. Masquerade, Ironhide, sandeep and 1 other 4
kosingh Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 Some of the criticisms against AB are a bit unfair IMO. He has played 100+ tests. He could have quit tests 5 years ago. He's nearly 33 now. Was Tendulkar's decision to quit ODIs inconsiderate towards the team ? Players in their 30s quit one format all the time.

Can't say the same for your bhikhari players and your bhikari board who beg and beg to play in the IPL. Edited January 18, 2017 by laaloo Masquerade and Ironhide 2

BCCI doesn't force ICC into anything - Each board except the arrogant pommies realize that depriving their players of the biggest gravy train isn't going to work. And PCB doesn't "allow" jack. Beggars can't be choosers. Even that reality didn't stop the PCB from trying to strong-arm players into playing PSL games in terrorist-central. All boards are grateful to IPL for not only paying their players top $$ to reduce pressure on the board to increase direct compensation to the players - Not only that, the IPL actually pays the respective Cricket Boards fees for each foreign player that plays in the IPL. I can't understand. Even with the quota, is it so difficult to find someone in the middle order who can be replaced? Who are those other white players in the squad that can't be replaced? http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/story/1078212.html Firdose's article on AB sans any racial quota references... How blind can cricinfo editors be?
mancalledsting Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 pathetic, he should not be considered for test selection at all with an attitude like this. Watch his career slide down hill from here on in. Sachin, Gambhir and Sehwag skipped windies test series in 2011 and all three of them were never the same again. They went from worlds best to losing their spot in the team. skipping New Zealand's and England test series (against good bowling attacks to preserve average) but coming back for India to boost average and promote himself in Indian market.
