He already fulfilled some of the promises he made during the election via executive order. I think he made 5 or 6 already, and he hasn't been president for even a week.

He froze the EPA research grants, contracts, etc.

Illegal Mexicans and Muslims are shitting bricks now...unfortunately, H1 B wud be difficult for Indians in the upcoming months.

Remains to be seen. The tech sector is fiercely liberal and if Trump cuts off their main source of amazing programmers (IIT grads), they might just re-locate to Canada and then the Indians go to Canada instead of USA.

The tech sector in Vancouver & Toronto are growing very fast, so it may just happen.

The way hes stated and the way he is threatening people/countries on twitter, he will get impeached soon.  whattanidiot.!

Nothing wrong in building the wall to protect his country where lot of drugs are imported to.

I went to high school in USA and I know how pathetic it is to see a young fellow student offering drugs to you. It has become a culture here among many teens especially if they are from poor families. Cutting down the import drugs can really help this country and its future kids.

Trump could be wrong in many things but he is correct on many things too, like this one.

El Chapo, the biggest drug dealer in the world was let go so easily twice from prison by the Mexicans. How can they let this happen so easily?  They have to get that wall up or put tight security to monitor the area to protect this country. I do not agree with his ideas of breaking the families and sending them back home, but that is another topic.

Um. Drugs come in via tunnels that are 30 meters under the ground, between border towns that have cross-border Mexican towns- like El Paso & Juarez. One warehouse to another, tunnels. Tunnels that are way, way deeper than any realistic wall are proposing.

That wall is going to do zilch to stop drugs.

The war on drugs is lost, only America doesnt realize this. When there is demand & the cartels are as rich as small nations, there is no force on earth that can stop it. Before US had the fear factor of imaginary friend in sky to cower youth, now the youth knows the BS about imaginary judgy friend in sky aka God, so that isn't working,.

Everyone knows that. When he meant The Wall , it is not just for drugs but to also protect the border and the country from people coming into the country. They come in big trucks from different parts of South and Central America from places like Gutemala to Honduras etc and even from Bangladesh and and hide in the jungles and then get into the Mexican border. Some die while some make it those who are lucky. Some get arrested and deported by Mexico to their countries. This also includes immigrants from countries like Bangladesh who fly into these countries to get to USA via the Mexican border.

That is what all Trump wants to cut mainly. And regarding drugs, he can't control what has happened but can surely tighten up on tunnels and having better security now around the borders. This is what something did not happen in the previous administration, including even under Bush's era when they raised the issue. Trump wants to change that. They want to crack down not only through the wall but to also monitor the exchanges through the tunnels. Building a wall is just the statement, the actual crackdown means more than just what the wall means.

'Tics, the WALL (Dravid fans, keep off this thread) will not solve the drug problem or the crime rate. As per Drumpfh, Mexico sends rapists, criminals only through the border.

The solution to the drug problem is to give up on the war on drugs, have a regulated market for street drugs and all illegality of possession being removed, the demand can be brought down. A lot of states are making marijuana legal, the trend is the correct way (like the Scandinavian countries do) to fight the menace.

The Wall is only provide fodder to divide the opinion and the whole country. Drugs will start pouring from Kaneda if the wall towards Mexico is built.

^ it is not just about Marijuana. Infact, it has already been made legal in U.S in few states so that is not that big of a deal for the governemnt as much as it is about other drugs like mdma, cocaine, meth etc. They have to take action regardless if it starts coming from Canada. Prevention is always better than curing it.

Crime could stop in some places. You never know. At times the Republican management does exaggerate but they do have a point.

You go anywhere in the world, whether in India or even in U.S, where do you see the most crime? You will find places which has poverty, least literacy rate. These same places will have high drug consumption rate amd also high crime rate. They all go hand in hand. Similarly, as many innocent hungry people who come to U.S illlegally for better living via mexico border, there are many who come along with them who have different motive or those who think differently as they have grown up all their life in such environment where there is nothing but just drugs. They do not want to study here or perhaps even want to work. All they might want to do is work a bit to earn money for booze and then rape. There are many who think that way down there in those areas. The Trump administration hence want to make sure they do everything to just shut any relationship with such immigrants. I know this is totally harsh but also not totally wrong to protect it's people and to keep the country clean for the future.

He is cracking down on Chicago too which has high crime rate. He wants to ensure that places where there is high crime and low literacy rate, like some places in Chicago, can be built again for better.

You've witnessed any anti-Trump protests there in U.S.? One of the protesters I heard on youtube were saying - "We want free borders", do these guys have any clue what they're saying or are they programmed to the point of no return? It's scary to know that a vast majority of people prefer to choose political ideology over general well being of people. I'm no Trump fan, but at least he'll prevent America from becoming a communist hellhole.

I live in DC area so this is where all the protest happens where people gather from throught the U.S but the funny thing they all are protesting for different reasons and all protestors hardly have anything in common. For example LGBT people are in large numbers who don't care about immigration policies unless their gay partner or lesbian better half is an illegal immigrant.

Then there are women out their protesting  for abortion who also are out there against Republicans and Trump but do not really want to comment on Trump's immigration policy.

Every one is in it for their own benefit.

Some of the policies are really strict like deporting illegals which might break families etc, and I am against it too and we have to see it if even he does go that way as no action has been taken yet, but to protect the country from any in coming traffic which could harm the country is  a totally right move to protect it's cittizen and the country.

I mean it is easy for people in India to comment on it and say how Trump and Republicans could be mean but ask them the same question and replace Mexico with Pakistan and Bangladesh and US with India, so you want all the terrorist organizations to enter India freely by having open free border. All the big cities in India will have immigrants from these countries all over India and we won't be able to track them and know their whereabouts and that could seriously harm India.

USA is a country. They have to protect

it. Yes, the Goras ancestory stole it from the Native Americans(who are also called The Indians thanks to SOB Christopher Columbus) ages ago but currently it is a proper country which accepts people from all the countries legally, and also allow them to become citizens here if they go through proper process, but it can not have open free border like some want.

http://www.pewhispanic.org/2015/11/19/more-mexicans-leaving-than-coming-to-the-u-s/

Also,  as per above link, more Mexicans are leaving the US than arriving in US. Ofcourse, it'd be stupid to expect rest of Latin American illegals to 'go back to Mexico' (it relies on racial steriotypes and telling an Indian from UK to 'go back to Iran' coz it happens to be along the way).

No, the answer to illegal immigration to US is simple: keep the pressure on the border with current levels of border control and instead invest in mexican economy heavily and make Mexico the more 'realistic' destination for rest of Latin Americans. The Mexico-Guatemala-Belize border is practically unenforceable because its a big dense jungle for almost all of it, over rough, hilly terrain.

It will never make illegal immigration go away- the key is to keep it to minimal levels and not go to an extreme that impacts legal movement of population - even in terms of logistics or bureaucracy.

Again, the whole idea of the wall isn't what Republicans just want to do. Wall is just being used as a theme for the whole immigration plan of theirs. They are basically just going to go hard on immigration which will impact immigrants from all over the world, especially from these neighbouring nations and people from countries from near about who will be monitored more.

I don't think you watched the video. It doesnt just talk about the wall itself either.

In anycase, it is clear that Trump isn't using the 'wall' as a metaphor, he physically wants to build a wall. As this video effectively demonstrates, it is going to be a multi-billion dollar waste of space.

It won't do the job it is designed to but it will cost the American public huge money- which will end up in the pocket of contractors undertaking such massive infrastructure project. You can bet your bottom dollar, Trump's 'sons' companies' will be in the thick of it. When a politician makes money by giving himself/his family/buddies contracts 'for the nation', its called Nepotism. Most of the time it frown-worthy, but not criminal- especially when the results are delivered. But when a politician sells a BS idea and then puts his friends/family to reap monies, it is called Fraud.

Lets see if there is any nepotism involved. His company or his sons' will be under radar every time now so doubt anything that could happen, if it does, he runs the risk of getting impeached. I doubt he is that big of an idiot, but you never know.

Never under-estimate the allure of 'there is money to be made' to a billionaire businessman.

Regardless, it will be an epic exercise in swindling the American public, who will end up paying for something (the wall) that won't work.
