Yeah, while I am happy he is getting an opportunity to showcase his talent and make some money, IPL can also be demoralizing for a young bowler if ends up with too many poor spells. I hope he does enough to stand out despite what the bowling figures might show. express bowling 1 Link to comment

Even Steyn, Johnson like big names have been taken apart in this format not once but many times. More important test is for Indian cricket fans. They need to be patient and stop judging him or any other new bowlers for that matter based on these 2020 games. If they perform good, better for Indian cricket, and if they struggle, then lets not bring down threads over threads lamenting and criticizing such bowlers who are playing their first tournament in the shortest format. ShebbySB
Kohli,Kumble and the team management are clearly giving exposure to the bowlers who have got pace. They have an eye for fast bowling talent. We'll have a fast bowling pool very very soon. First Aniket and Basil got the opportunity to bowl in the India nets. That's a great way to impress. If we look closely all our top seamers right now have one thing in common. That's pace. In test Shami,Umesh are genuine fast bowlers.Ishant still got some decent pace and crant it up. Even BK gained 5-6k on avg and now bowls in 135-140k in tests. In LOIs Bumrah has got deceptive pace.Always around 138-142k and sometimes faster.Even Hardik can be 140-145ks when he is in full throttle. Upcoming and fringe bowlers all have got pace Aaron being the fastest. Aniket,Basil,Sangwan,Ankit,Nathu can all bowl upto 145k M.Siraj,Warrier,Shardul,Navdeep are all high 130 to low 140s. Days of trundlers are gone in Kohli era.Kulwant,Suyal,Shukla,Baba Shafi Pathan, Ravi Kiran,Avesh these guys are not in the limelight but all have good amount of pace.Bowlers coming up the ranks all have some amount of pace nowadays.Bowlers now feel if they have pace they have good chance of getting selected over others. But he'll never outdo Ashwin. So I don't see him playing outside the SC.Kuldeep seems to be a better option atm, brings variety.Though for the timebeing Jayant is our 3rd test spinner when we play in the SC. Simply brilliant from Kohli and Kumble Excerpts from the article.... sweet words...... "We have Aniket Choudhary, (Basil) Thampi, Nathu Singh as part of our scheme. ... The Indian team management has been talking about the importance of fast bowlers in the Test side,It's not necessary that they will be part of the squad in near future, but looking at the series .coming up or even far ahead, it's good to have them in the scheme of things and bring them...into the work culture that we all expect and is needed for success at the international level,"... p.s - Bro, would you post it in the speed and performance thread too.
