Despite all this . We won test series , won odi series and may win t20 series to clean sweep England in all 3 formats

but this forum is in panic and misery mode . Plenty of wrist slitting lol

Other than test series where winning is the most important thing, both in odis and t20s building the right team  is more important than winning.

Also during the last over Nehra ran all the way upto Dhoni to suggest something while Kohli was a mere spectator at long on. So its not just Dhoni trying to impose himself as OP might suggest.

dhoni will always have major influence on him...he is 5-6 years senior to him in international cricket.
final call is with kohli but he is still letting dhoni have a great leverage, although willingly (mentally captivated).

Its ok for a new captain to take suggestions from a senior one. But it doesn't look good when dhoni himself taking decisions on the filed. Its upto dhoni to understand the situation and let kohli captain the team and limit his services to suggestions to kohli and not bypass him.

Not sure how that's gonna happen with Kohli fielding at long on.

that's not an excuse for some other guy to take over captaincy. it looks unprofessional.

Not sure took over. Wicket keeper factor so naturally heavy influence .

Yeah not just Dhoni , Nehra was fully involved as well.

Only think I would say is Kohli too should involve himself in that discussions.Only way he will learn. He doesn't have much time to learn either.

That's not an excuse.Thats the only option

Hopefully its a temporary thing to let the most athletic person field at long on. personally I like to see kohli run the ship himself and flourish as a captain. dhoni is a defensive captain and kohli's style is completely opposite to that.

How can Kohli get involved in every ball when he is standing at the boundary, even in IPL  keepers play important role even though they are not captains. Dhoni has done one good thing even at his peak he never let go his gloves. He never gave anyone a chance to even think about alternatives even in IPL or local matches.

Or maybe he's just a poor lol captain

And when did he back Aaron. Guy hasn't played for a year now

Binny played under Dhoni too. Then it was nepotism lol

I am not talking about individual names......just his emphasis on 5 bowler theory or preferring pace over other skills or even encouraging players who can bat fast eg;Rohit over Pujara.

I am not saying all these are right moves or these are the right players but just the approach that sets him apart  from Dhoni.

This is not a Kohli vs Dhoni thread but the approach to tests are clearly visible.

In LOI's too I am once again saying that there is nothing wrong in adpting Dhoni's style as Dhoni's LOI record as a captain speaks for itself but right now it is clearly visible that pretty much everything is still in the same old Dhoni style....there is a sense of Deja Vu.

If you remember the Asia cup Afridi 2 6's match...even though we lost Kohli's captaincy was praised because he kept the pressure throughout by bowling his main bowlers defending a sub-par total...no part-timers or filler overs.

Yesterday there was nothing wrong with Raina bowling 4 overs on a slow track...as I said the objective here is not pointing out Dhoni's flaws or elevating Kohli....it is just that Kohli's individuality and unique style as a captain is still not visible in the LOI series so far.

Kohli just didn't seem as invested and animated as he is in test cricket.

Kohli was very involved and animated in the ODI series as captain

Lead from the front and we won the ODI series.

He is perhaps a tad laid back in bilateral T20Is and that maybe his method of avoiding  burnout.

Even in the ODIs ,in the 2nd ODI when we were defending in the closing stages, Dhoni clearly took charge.

There was a difference.  Kohli was still in charge.

Experienced keepers often give strong inputs in LOIs as they are able to observe much better how the bowler is bowling and how the field is set in relation to the bowling.

I am not advocating for Yadav here. I am just saying you need to take wickets in order to stop the run flow. There is no other way. Bumrah had a bad series. Also, even a medium pacer can be a wicket taking bowler, for example Nathan Bracken. I dont want Yadav should play ODIs. He is a nightmare for any captain.

Exactly we need wicket taking bowlers not the usual line and length crap and keeping things tight. That's for part timers. Give me a guy that goes 10-75-4 than 10-43-0 these days. Obviously it depends on when those wickets were taken but wickets are crucial these days. Once a batsman is set in, he can really hurt the opposition.

How did this turn into phasttt yadav thread ? Should be happy he is no where near... match would have been ended in first 4 overs itself.

Whereas calling shots thing go.. Its quite evident who is calling it on tv and not sure what kind of captaincy  he is trying to do from longon. Even a cameramen looks confused.... I ll say it takes times after these many years. He looked like a lost puppy most of the times.

Exactly. England would have collapsed.
