YCCC Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 This season? Their 11th Test since September, plus 8 ODIs and 3T20s (at least, can't remember if they played any against NZ. Is this an overlooked factor behind this sudden drop in performance?
BCCI Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I must say Captain definitely looks mentally exhausted. With the kind of drive and energy he plays every game with,I am getting worried for him.Now this will be followed by an arduous IPL and then straight away to CT2017.God bless Virat Thank god for a 8 day break between 2nd and 3rd tests. express bowling Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Kohli, as well as the test players, are looking tired I was always afraid of fall in intensity and mental fatigue when a player plays as well as captains in all 3 formats as well as the IPL. We saw what happened to Dhoni after a few years. I always thought that making Kohli captain in all 3 formats was a wrong decision. We should have a separate T20I captain and Kohli needs to be rested in all bilateral T20Is ( unless it is a pre-World T20 series which is preparatory in nature ) Edited March 4, 2017 by express bowling Mosher and Bystander 2
Number Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 You would think after playing so much cricket they would have learnt how to play spin.
tweaker Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Kohli ,Rahane ,Ashwin,Jadeja,Rahul,Umesh should have been rested for the odi against England
MK55 Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Australia has had a pretty hectic schedule as well. But they prepared magnificently heading into the series. In India's case, I reckon the Bangladesh test match was pointless and could have been better used for resting/prep. Also, Kohli's form had concealed the batting issues. Sooner than later he was bound to fail and that aggravated things. hoti_to_kratisto and nevada 2

kosingh Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 We do look tired. But how much good spin have we played against this long season?
tweaker Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 We need fresh players instead of Rahane,Ishant inthe squad
Sidhoni Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Still not an excuse for batting like that. Though we could have rested some players for Bangladesh test. adi B and express bowling 2
WC2011INDIA Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Hahahaha..Rahane got some time off so should be doing much better..chutiya is mental midget. He is now a **** batsman. Throw him out.
~ Miss Warner ~ Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 I find this topic ironic, because India haven't played ANY cricket so far this series *I said "SO FAR", so legally this post cannot be used as a jinx. hoti_to_kratisto, NareshK, Brainfade and 1 other 3 1

It doesn't matter, the jinx is ON, get ready to see your team go down for the count
YCCC Posted March 4, 2017 Author Posted March 4, 2017 (edited) Thanks for the responses guys. Thought I'd throw the question out there and watch the opinions/arguments/Aussie "chat" (thanks Miss Warner) fly. It's pretty obvious that Aus are playing the better cricket, but India are unrecognisable from the efficient machine that rolled all before it earlier in the season. Kohli is a prime example This against a team that has a dreadful recent record in Asia. Aus are allowed to improve and learn from their mistakes of course but that doesn't explain why India have been so bad. Fatigue has to be a big issue here surely? If England played 13 Tests in a home season against four different teams the ECB would rightly get panned. Sorry but the players need a break from the treadmill, however much they earn and enjoy their "job" (if you can call playing sport a job). Edited March 4, 2017 by YCCC
Ultimate_Game Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 Too much cricket is a given for India and they should be used to it by now. Since IPL came into existence there really isn't an "off season" anymore and they should've been used to it by now. It's Team India's fault that they didn't manage the players properly and didn't rest them in case they are fatigued now. It's part and parcel of playing for India and the Indian management should've done a better job if the players are indeed feeling burnt out. 'm sorry but this should not be an excuse and is more of an indictment of Indian thin-tank and team management. They've enough resources at their disposal, especially when playing at home, and if they can't manage the players well it's on them. AuxiliA 1
NareshK Posted March 4, 2017 Posted March 4, 2017 England and SA are clearly much better teams than Australia. If India rolled them over, they should have defeated Aus quite easily but it was not to be. But whatever the reason, kudos to Australia for the way they turned up so far. But the series is not over yet. I dont think Kohli or Ashwin will give it up quite easily. I reckon there might still be some fight in the Indian team.
