But look at the body language and intensity of the players. I thought Aussies would run away with the game by end of day2. I imagined drooping shoulders and pathetic loser attitude but I was proven wrong.

 

the focus and grit and intensity was off the charts.

 

pick a name for the best master strategist captain ever and there will be 10s of instances of muck ups by them.

 

I have seen tons of instances of drooping shoulders under Dhoni,Ganguly,Dravid or Azhar the most successful captains from India.

 

This team is something else...from what looked like a hopeless situation on the beginning of day2...it looks like we are still with a shot.

 

For all the blunders this is really a heartwarming quality which shows great promise.

Inspite of everything, we did fight really really hard today.

 

The effort simply cannot be questioned.

 

I feel we need a moment of magic from someone in our team to lift our spirits and believe we can fight back. Both with the ball and bat. Mainly with the bat though.

 

In the 2nd innings, if we defend all the full/slightly fullish deliveries and take body blows of other deliveries by Lyon....it really can be game on.

O Keefe was playable in this test. Starc and Hazlewood may cause troubles with variable bounce but we will figure out a way to deal with them if we can deal with their spinners.

 

Fight hard and who knows...things may change beyond recognition.

Qualities like man management and intensity and fighting spirit cannot be taught....strategies etc you can throw money and hire from humans to animals to machines no biggie.

True lol,Renshaw reiterated the fact during post match interview,the plan was just to bat out the whole day.

 

And what hopeless situation at the start of the day,knowing this Aus side Ind were not hopeless even at the stroke of Tea when Marsh got out.Things started drifting in the last session and a hint of despair started creeping in.

 

Surely it was a lionhearted effort by our bowlers especially fast bowlers but sorry I don't find any solace in "great body language" and it's really hard to condone those blunders because they were senseless and frustrating.

When opposition is not trying to score against you on a diffcult pitch then it's easy to maintain intensity. You can bowl same line whole day without being worried about getting hit. 

 

Basically this approach by batsmen removes one concern of the bowler and they can think about only taking wickets. Which teams and captains lose intensity when other team is in complete defensive mode? It would be very rare in modern day cricket.

Well the captain himself needs to remove himself from the slips. He has himself a share of many crucial dropped catches. If you take that catch of renshaw we would be batting now with a lead.

If anything they would have ensured that team gets crushed in such conditions. Instead it looks like Aussies will completely outperform Indian team here.

The best I liked about Kohli is that he was constantly talking to his bowlers and motivating them to bowl attacking lines even when India looked to be out of the game.

Yeah give Kohli those batsmen and he won't lose too.

 

Leave those bats, if we had scored 300 in this pitch in first innings, we would have been in driver's seat.

 

All those past Indian captains would look befuddled too if they had this batting lineup against spin.

Really some of posters here did not watch cricket under Ganguly at home .We did not win every series and even under Dhoni there were draws against SA twice and loss against England.Under Dhoni we really started dominating at home .
