Young Indian players' performances in the IPL

Recommended Posts

Washington Sundar played a superb cameo of 35 runs off only 19 balls ... with 3 sixes and 1 four.

Sundar doing well with the bat too would help a lot with the balance of Team India in the coming years.

pant - absolutely no doubts about his hitting abilities .. should develop his off-side game and stop playing like padosi batsmen

ishan kisan - got better range and temperament than pant

Pant showing signs maturing . Building his innings and attempting singles . Long way to go but at least realising can’t try and smash every ball from start for 6 with wild slogs

kishan needs brain transplant . But will learn quick am sure like pants slowlsy starting to

Much better than overrated chahal in t20 , he is better bowler than chahal and can field and bat well also.

Sampson batted lovely

yes power and big hits . But it was his solid orthodox technique coupled with easy power

looked like could do well for India and not get exposed . Very composed . Not wild thrashing . Played straight with good temperament

Should get chance ahead of Pant and Kishan. Look much more assured while playing his shots and has wide range of shots.

There is no doubt at all, Samson should be in the ODI n T20 side, same with Rahul,Aggarwal has done enough to deserve a place in ODI n test, Gopal, Nitesh Rana, R Samarth, Sran was out due to injury so if fit n bowling well should be given a go as well.

Super impressed with Samson the range , timing, ease, distance, wrist all there, hope Dhoni is kicked out asap.

How did actually bat . Lots of wild shots . Or did he lool good , with sound shots

numbers mean not a lot for me in these games

He plays more assured in IPL than his few outings for India. Seems to panic and look awful in blue but needs more chances. One knock will probably transform him at international level.

KL Rahul, Tripathi, Gill, Rana, Pant, Samson, Gowtham/Markande, S Gopal, Nagarkoti, Mavi, Khejroliya

Can this team beat our first XI? Heard Nasser say India can line up a serious second XI in white ball cricket. I silently agreed.

Shivam Mavi was very impressive today.

Opened the bowling and got a 2 over spell. 1 for 14  with the prize scalp of Gambhir ... top effort.

This kid looks the part.  Was bowling lots of 140 k to 144 k balls, was hitting the deck hard and getting steep bounce and bowling in good areas. Got a couple of balls to really fly through.

His wicket of Gambhir was a ball which bounced steeply off length.

Exciting prospect  !

but he got selected for the national team :wall:

because he has done well in domestic cricket. 1-2 innings are not good enough to judge anyone, especially T20 cricket, which is a very cruel format.  It can make people look like rubbish. T20 made Dravid and Laxman look like hacks.

Sanju Samson  played a scintillating knock of 92 not out off only 45 balls.

Hit 10 sixes and 2 fours.

The most pleasing part was the way he could hit pace bowlers for big sixes too.

Very impressed with his power and timing and his intention to play a big innings.

Watched all of this match. He just tonked the bowlers, no matter how much they spun or how fast they bowled. He had enough time to play on the back foot or on the front foot.Paced his innings incredibly well.Scored at a healthy SR while getting set  and then demolished the pacers in the death overs. One of the best buy for that price.

On these 58 to 67 range grounds he is well capable of clearing the sixers. Things would be different at MCG though, but thats for a discussion if he reaches that level.

The Indian team management should introspect ... why 2 huge talents,  Rahul and Pant ... have not been backed properly in LOIs.

Are young batsmen feeling comfortable in the Indian dressing room and getting the chances they deserve  !
