CricketInsider
Toughest place to bat in test matches is opening Easiest place to bat in ODI's is opening You can't compare the two. That is why guys like Sehwag and Dravid are rated high in my book for test matches UrmiSinhaRay and Kothili 1 1 Link to comment

Global.Baba
Jokes apart. Rohits ideal slot is no.6 where he can play those magical knocks with the tail where he can just hit those 6s and work shepherding the tail/lower middle order or do a Gilchrist where he can take the set game totally out of the opponents reach. Opening in ODIs will give him the experience of the 2nd new ball as well. We have tinkered his position for too long. No.5 is not his slot. Cook averages only 45 and is considered one of the best test openers in the modern era Switchblade 1 Link to comment
Global.Baba
^Also to add his last couple of overseas tours were absolute debacles after which he was done pretty much Link to comment

So it may worth a try in test cricket as well. He is a total failure in the middle order but a shot at opening may rejuvenate his test career. With Lokesh Rahul not in form, I would open with Shaw and Rohit for 1st 2 tests at-least and see how it goes. How is it different from Dhawan opening Link to comment
Tendulkar1996
I believe he should be given a chance - a final chance because he is in form of his life.Last chance for rahul first test.If he fails try sharma.Vijay is washed up ttf. In the long term if rahul doesnt return to form, sharma fails ,we should go mayank. Prithvi shaw has one end locked in. UrmiSinhaRay 1 Link to comment
