Who are the top 4 openers in India domestics, A-tours? (other than Prithvi Shaw)

Mayank Agarwal is one of them. Who are the others? I guess Gill is one other.

 

 

Are any of them Intl quality??

Gill is not an opener.  Priyank Panchal has good numbers for Gujarat, but I think he's more of a domestic bully.  Hasn't gotten too many A team chances.

He might be adomestic bully or might be perfectly organised player to do well for India.  We dont know as for some reason not picked!

 

Is bizzzare selctions many times.  Lots of good players gunning it at FC level year after year after year.  Big runs and big averages.  Yet not giveing chances India A etc.  Why? Dont belive cos we have great selctors who have analysed techinques and decided not suitable for international cricket.  Lots of luck on selction, PR groups and factions if back you and wether given a run and chance to develop at higher levels.

Openers tried in India A in last 18-20 months - Mayank Agrawal, Abhishek Easwaran, R Samarth, Priyank Panchal, Faiz Fazal.

 

Mayank obviously is in the next in line. Panchal is the most in form opener in domestic cricket having scored 700+ runs@70 in the Ranji season so far.

It takes a while to develope an opener. Gill is not there yet.

The best choice for India is 2 out of these three Rohit, Dhawan and Rahane. Rotate Aggarwar in and out as needed.

Why rotate agarwal. Give him 5-6 tests and then rotate.. why different yardsticks for different people. None of the openers rohit included have set the stage on fire in recent past. So as long as mayank scores at 30+ average and lasts more than 75 ball/innings i am okay with him.

Even Sanjay Bangar and Aakash Chopra seem like an "upgrade" to modern day Indian test openers!!!

this was his FC debut.  It came before his U19 WC exploits. more than one year back.  So, it is not just six months.

They didnt have t20 in their time, bad habbits creep up due to it and rahul is the best xample.

No centuries but in SENA protecting new ball overs for coming-in-next #3 or #4 bat, that was invaluble from bangar/chopra. Invaluable 30s, 40(90), some fifty perhaps

we do not need Gavaskars or Boycotts ... 2 openers who can see off the new ball and put on the avg: around 50 runs for the opening wkt partnership there by    avg:ing  aroud 35 will  be enough.It is a shame that we can't produce even such batsmen.

yes Bengar & Chopra ...were very moderate ... but when we think of the part played by these two in those 2004 AUS series & 2007 ENG series ,we realize as to how  important even 'such moderate batsmen , but have the ability to see off new ball' can be.
