I have a feeling RCB will be most suited team for Gill. Under Kohli he will get to learn a lot and will improve him as a batsman.

Why don't you look at balls faced by both of them . That's not a fair comparison. One opens the inning and other one comes at time when nothing can be done or there's no role for him at that time.

Russell, Hardik Pandya, Bravo, Miller, Pollard are all rounders and they have usually batted in lower middle order. They have scored more runs in many years for many franchisee teams. They are not even specialist batsmen. Yet they are outscoring lot of specialist batsmen even facing less balls.

2018 IPL

Gill scored 203 runs in 139 balls at strike rate of 146 batting in end overs.

Narine scored 357 in 188 at massive strike rate of 189.89

Lynn top scored for KKR with 491 runs and strike rate of 130.23.

Gill cannot be picked ahead of Lynn and Narine. Lynn was KKRs top scorer last year and a proven T20 format player. No way is Gill better than him in T20 as of now.

Narine is used as pinch hitter and he has had extremely good strike rate for KKR since he opened. Gill has not matched that strike rate even in SMA trophy which is  of lesser quality than IPL. Even Uthappa who was leading run scorer or one of top 2 or 3 run scorers every year for KKR was dropped one down for Narine. Even Uthappa is waiting to get back his spot where he had success in IPL.

They have settled batting line up, why would they change it to manage one promising batsman??  Even Kohli wasnt given that much opportunity during first  2 IPL.

Despite attempt to suppress GIll he won the Emerging player of the award Upto April 14th ( day before world cup squad announcement) Gill was batting down the order. After that date they pushed him to 3 and eventually to 1/2.

He was used totally in the wrong position. Gill is not a hitter and will not at all thrive if you give him just 5-10 balls to score 20 runs. He is like Kohli where he can hit but only after he is well set and is in hitting form. He is definitely someone who is fit for top 3 only in t20

I think BCCI probably played a role? Why did they decide to push him

up the order the day after the squad was announced.
