Yuvi, Maxwell, Johnson have to be the biggest flops of this IPL. They got proper opportunities in 10+ games and failed spectacularly. Jaddu comes out a little better because of his bowling performances in the latter part of the IPL. D Karthik too had pretty good time behind the stumps, he probably got 3-4 proper opportunities with the bat (which he failed), about 5 rain effected games and about 5 games where the top 4 finished the games for RCB.

It would be unfair to call Mitchell Johnson as the most worthless player. He bowled very well in the first few matches' date=' just wasn't good in the death overs.[/quote'] On the other hand, I would actually consider him one of the top contenders for this title. He was very expensive and didn't even compensate with wickets. Even bottom placed KXIP lost patience and sent him home.

That isn't really bad. Sandeep Sharma picked up 13 wickets in 14 matches, and he is considered to have a very successful season (although he has a good ER, just under 8). And he didn't bowl particularly bad. Just was asked to bowl a lot in the death overs which ruined his ER (e.g. in the first match he had figures of 2/14 in his first 3 overs and then went for 20 runs when he bowled in the death, IIRC). In another match he got figures of 2/23.

The first Test with WI doesn't start until June 3. So, there are still many days to go. Besides, David Warner a first choice player in the Test team played IPL till his team's final match. Shane Watson and Steven Smith, both members of the current Test team, are also still playing for their IPL team. Requesting to go home for WI tour was a polite way of saying that we don't really need you any more.

He is considered one of the best bowlers in the World currently and received top dollar amounts for his service. You think he should only bowl "easy overs"? Obviously, as the best bowler in the team he was expected to bowl the death overs. He was clobbered not just by international players, but even Parthiv Patel, Suryakumar Yadav and Mayank Agarwal took him to the cleaners. :haha:

According to this article http://www.espncricinfo.com/indian-premier-league-2015/content/story/873837.html Johnson (and Shaun Marsh) "made the request so that they could travel with the Australian squad for the series in the West Indies in June". Apparently Sanjay first denied the request and then allowed them to leave once their playoff dreams were crashed. So it wasn't the case where they were dropped. ' "While both the players have been of great significance to the team and contributed immensely, we respect our players' decisions," Kings XI said in a release. ' KXIP didn't request them to go home, they requested to leave. Warner didn't go because SRH had a chance of making the playoffs. Smith's and Watson's team have made the playoffs so they wouldn't be allowed to leave either. Bowlers have particular jobs. Some are strike bowlers like Johnson who are best bowled in the first few overs to pick up early wickets. You don't expect all of them, at least not in a T20 match, to bowl very economically in the death overs. Especially since Johnson relies much more on bounce and less on swing, and is not the best at bowling yorkers to restrict run flow in death overs.

So why didn't KXIP ask all their foreign players to go home and prepare for their next assignments? IPL teams don't work that way. They were not going to pick Johnson and Marsh for the rest of the league matches and knowing that they were not in the playoffs meant that Johnson and Marsh were just a waste of time, space and money for the rest of the IPL. That is why they were "excused to go prepare for their next assignment". Johnson is not suited to bowling in death overs is just a poor excuse for a pathetic performance. Hardly even 5 feet tall Parthiv Patel took him for 28 runs from 9 balls and this was in the early overs where you said that Johnson was menacing! :giggle:

Yuvi can fill seats in the stadium(or used to) but Dinesh Karthick has neither star appeal nor runs to his name. I don't understand why he was paid so handsomely.
Mallya was intoxicated during auctions
