Time ticking for Hardik Pandya

The last ball was the only good delivery....the 2 balls he got wickets off of where really nothing balls........but looked like a million bucks with the bat though......would have taken the game if not for that magnificent catch.

As I said another performance that gives ammunition to both the skeptics and the apologists

His batting was faultless though.  If not for the brilliant catch that dismissed him, he was on his way to power us to a winning total.  People keep forgetting that he is a batsman who can bowl a bit.

Another one of those performances where you just can put your finger on it :hysterical:

One of the poorest overs to win the game in the last over ever

But hopefully this confidence will help him kick on

He is a part time bowler,  told to bowl the last over, on a spin-friendly track, in  a crunch WC match .

Do you think it is correct to blame his bowling ?

This is T20 and it happens. It was extra pace of pandya which made those full toss difficult.

as people who make a case for him always are saying,he is a batsman who can bowl and I think he looked good today before that freak dismissal....but he was bowling length bowls to batsman...the full toss could have easily been worked away for a single.....his bowling lets admit is god awful despite this

He's great in the field which is something I think people don't mention as much. Adds to the fielding unit along with Raina, Kohli and Jadeja. On these pitches I would not have played him as much, and he also bowls way way to many wayward deliveries (full tosses and wides).

Why is Negi in the squad? Is he a bowling allrounder? If so I would have liked to see him in a game or two.

Negi played one game in Asia cup.  Looked extremely average bowler.  Nowhere near good enough.  Rather play Bhajji instead.

What u expect he is not a death bowler. He can give u 2-3 overs in the middle currently. But he has pace and a good bouncer which can be worked on .His potential is huge.

Our frontline, specialist bowlers, apart from Bumrah,  bowl length balls in the end overs.

Why was a part-time bowler bowling the last over ?  He is not supposed to be an expert at bowling yorkers at will in the end overs.

Not many have really has said that Pandya (or other talented players) should not be played .... But that the squad and playing 11 should be based on horses for courses and form

IF Pandya or any other player including regressing forces such as Raina, Yuvi, Bhajji, etc. meet those criteria, they should be played :winky:

Tomorrow someone will say Negi is like Bevan

The selection of teams for world events should be different from  bi-lateral series. World events team should have in-form players in the squad and playing 11 selected based on horses for courses. In bilateral series experinentation, playing players for exposure, etc is acceptable

I really like pandya ....but we have to cautious about the reality ...... he is not Intl material yet....

What is working for him is his attitude....

If he continuous to work hard, he might be a diamond as vrv said....

But time will only tell

We've got 3 good bowlers - Ashwin, Bumrah, Jadeja

1 ok bowler - Nehra

The fifth bowler is the real problem. Why does Yuvi not bowl any more?

Yeah, he's nowhere near a finished product.  Will struggle against quality bowlers, especially pace.  But he has the skillset to murder average bowlers like Kushal Perera.  He's a good role player who fits a dire need of clubbing boundaries as soon as he walks in, in the lower middle order.  And has done it now 3 times for us with the bat.  So stop viewing him as a allrounder or bowler who can bat a bit, and evaluate him for what he is.  Wrong expectations completely change perception of a player.

People hate on Jadeja for the same reason - skewed expectations - Jaddu is a bowler who can bat a little bit - NOT an allrounder.  So don't expect him to get you big hits or runs, and suddenly he's a pretty useful bowler and a gun fielder to boot.  But if you expect allrounder level runs from him, he's a major disappointment.  Once in a blue moon, he will chip in with the bat - like he did today.  Haters will not credit his 2 timely boundaries at the death that pushed our score on - when every run counted.  But they will be back with knives out, the minute he can't finish a game when the Kohlis, Rainas and Yuvis have failed to get it done.
