Rahane is our number one. So if we ever have 3 fielders, he will be automatic third choice for now until we have Rahul regularly stand there or someone like Vijay or even Pujara.

 

Among all, I don't know how good Pujara will be at slip to the seamers We need Our bats to be at slip. Can't expect Yadav or Shami, or any other bowler to stand at slip and squat and tire their body so they can't bowl later.

 

Has to be someone from top 7 bats. So Rahane is automatic choice and the two others have to be players who play regularly. This is where Rahul needs to step up and start playing regularly for India so he can be tried as a slip fielder. Recently our top order has been changing a lot and that has made the the middle order bats to be used for slip fielding only. One or both openers could be developed for slip catching.

 

 

 

Not just slip, Kohli doesn't has technique and patience to be any type of close in fielder. Problem is that there are very few fielding positions available for Kohli as he is the captain. He has to be inside 30 yards circle. He can't be part of 3 slips, WK and bowler and 3 out-fielders. That eliminates 8 positions for him. If there is a plan for more fielders near the batsman, it becomes very diffcult to hide him considering that he has remain close to action too.

What is the average dropped catches/match per team. If we get that stat we can assess properly how good or bad India catching has been with this new generation.

It's time for coach to assess the real value of players.

 

Dhawan and Kohli may score average 40-45 runs in an inning and 75-80 runs in a match, but if they drop catches at this rate, then their actual value to the team might be way lower. 

 

Indian team is consistently losing 40-50 runs or more because of them, especially Kohli who scores 45 runs, but probably costs the team 15-20 on avg in inning.

Can’t believe so many catches dropped by Kohli, this only upto March 2017

 

have to feel sorry for Yadav

 

For Ashwin and Jadeja, any dropped catches off their bowling, they probably got the wicket latter on, based on the humongous number of overs they bowl

Kohli can field at deep midwicket like he does in limited overs cricket....apparently he is a super expert in that position according to cricketics.

 

I won’t be surprised,seems to get a lot of practice there.

yeah one handed catches are regular catches now. Who else are grabbing chances like that may i ask?
