BCCI SGM has today cleared India's participation in Champions trophy .

The squad will be announced on Monday i.e., Tomorrow.

BCCI press release said, “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Special General Meeting was held on Sunday, May 7, in New Delhi. The Board unanimously authorized the acting Hony. Secretary of the BCCI to continue negotiations with the ICC in the best interest of the BCCI while keeping its legal options open. The BCCI SGM unanimously decided that the Indian cricket team will participate in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The All-India Senior Selection Meeting will be held tomorrow, May 8, in New Delhi to pick the team.”

Question is why unanimous? If its down to legal thing then this is worst to happen to Indian cricket. If it is down to some BCCI ICC deal which isnt visible to us, then I dont mind

Great, all the hard work done by BCCI in the last 20 years gone down the drain. Am sure Sachin, Dravid, Kohli, Kumble, Guha, Edulji are lining up to donate 50% of their income to help out some poor malis looking after a BCCI affiliated ground in Manipur. After all they have voted for helping out folk in other countries, surely they are patriotic enough to do charity closer at home.

If they have willingly taken a 40% cut, I sure as hell am boycotting this CT. Least we can do for the thousands associated with Indian cricket who are going to be badly hit/lose employment because of this bendover by BCCI.

if it was a unanimous decision, then there must be something going on behind the scenes. you're talking about a complete u-turn, they couldn't have done this unless they have some plan of action

Boring saga

always going to play

now let's discuss what squad should be :cheer:

My college had a barren piece of land till BCCI came and developed it into a wonderful cricket ground with top notch facilities. Now it is BCCI affiliated and my college team players have the best facilities to hone their skills. More so kids as young as 10 years old from cricket clubs from near the area have under age tournaments in the ground. Earlier they used to play on matting wickets/cement slabs but now they get to play on a turf pitch which is well maintained by people employed by BCCI.

Truth is BCCI is doing its bit to spread the game of cricket all across India and is he best run sports body in India, wish Hockey India/IOA were half this efficient. Thousands are on BCCI payroll and BCCI conducts many many matches every single day, without all the effort we would never be the number 1 team today. Now ICC decides to cut 40% of our revenue and gift it to the likes of Pakistan and Bangladesh and you are calling this boring saga? Our money is being funneled to our enemies who want to wipe out the name India and people are more interested in a stupid CT. The very foundation of Indian cricket is under attack and if we toe ICC line, there may be long term repercussions.

no chance of the BCCI going in that direction. they lost a battle, but many in indian cricket weren't pleased with this outcome. cricket belongs to india, its our sport. they'll get it back soon enough. need to get the house in order first.

The idiot COA to be blamed here. They had asked the BCCI members to participate in the CT and take no legal action.Vinod Rai is a traitor a idiot who knows nothing. He has @#$% .He has even asked the BCCI to accept the extra 100mn and be happy. He wants BCCI to make extra money through bilaterals. This guy has no stake in Indian cricket. He will leave in 6 months but the damage he has caused will stay on for decades.

That's what I think. CoA has already made a deal with ICC and now want BCCI to rubber stamp it. Effing traitors.

Can we now pls stop discussing about these admin stuff (BCCI-COA-ICC etc.) and focus on cricket? As an Indian Cricket Fan, nothing gives me more joy than my team doing well on the field. Ofcourse I love BCCI to become rich but say hypothetically BCCI could have managed to get 570 million but Indian team eliminated in 1st round of Champions trophy, dont think any sane cricket fan will be happy. I would be estatic if India wins the tournament even though BCCI lose some money. Lots of talk /distraction has already being done about this BCCI saga, can we now pls shift our focus on real stuff?

As a fan, more than revenue what is worrying me is Kohli's form and horrendous captaincy. What is worrying me is our openers not at all in form. What is worrying me is a middle order consists of has beens - Yuvraj & Dhoni.

Our team is very poorly prepared for Champions trophy. Its piss cold here in UK now and IPL experience will not help at all here. BD is already in Eng aclimatising with the conditions. Pak will reach in UK 2 weeks before the tournament and will set up their base camp in Birmingham where they play us. England already started their ODI campaign for the year. NZ will play a tri series in Eng before CT. And all we are doing is worrying about BCCI's wallet

As a fan our focus should be how should be defend the title which MS won for us in 2013. BCCI has confirmed today we are playing Champions trophy, so thats it. Lets stop focussing on these admin stuffs and focus on the main thing - CRICKET.

Cricbuzz has more details. COA took back step allows Amitabh choudary to do negotiations with icc. Bcci is not worried about it seems they are worried more about governance.bcci says legal route is still valid.

They are worried about both. The revenue and the governance reforms both. This was the time to catch the bull by the horns.A pull out would have brought the ICC to its knees. But you cannot expect strong decisions from Ex-Babus like Vinod Rai.

Pull out will be equal damaging to India as well. Don't we loose the revenue till 2023 ?

Agree with everything what you wrote there other than this para which I quoted.

MS did not win us that champions trophy. Neither did Kapil win us wc alone in 1983

It was team victory where every player stood up and performed.

MS was just the captain, a brilliant captain but he did not "win" us the trophy.

We overate a captain a lot. Captaincy itself is overated just like the coaching job too. Some moves are important, but overall its overrated.
